So i guess my 8 win prediction was way too optimistic. This could wind up being the worst offense in nfl history, in an era where offense is favored!
I honestly enjoyed the 21 and 22 seasons, despite the relative lack of success. we controlled our destiny both years to the end and were at least competitive in the vast majority of games. Even in 2020 I enjoyed at least having an outside shot at the playoffs until that loss in miami. This is the first time since 2000 ive lost complete hope before December, and its the first week of October!I said in the other thread bb should get another year or 2, i think i have to take that back. Its time to move on at hc and qb. Hopefully he steps down gracefully at season’s end.
Onto the positives , I still hope we can keep this defense in tact. Even without judon , Gonzalez, and a few others they performed as well as you can ask. At full strength they can be set.
Need to start over completely on offense, starts with qb. I know the issues go far beyond mac but he’s not the guy. You gave it enough time, gotta move on to the next attempt sooner than later. Ol and wr need an overhaul, i cant think of a single guy there other than pop that I have hope for. Hopefully we can get a look at boutte, thornton, mafi, strange, and sow to see whats they have. Im sure ill be disappointed here too as bb continued playing cam in 2020 after they were mathematically done for whatever reason.
Special teams continues to get outplayed weekly as well. Not sure what the fix is here. They have constantly underperformed since 2021 at least aside from marcus jones and schooler making some plays. Ryland is a concern, but still early.
