Fire the GMWhat if stud LT is worse than Lowe ?
I was fortunate, I had a couple Jets in front of us who didn’t say a word all game, had four young guys behind us, two were Pats fans and two were Jets fans, I was talking to one of the Jets fans. However there were some Jets fans further down in the section, dancing and high diving all game. I wish I had taken a picture of the looks on their faces when they did the walk of shame up and out of the section. Priceless!I enjoyed this win a lot, mainly because there were two a-hole Jet fans in the row in front of us. We were all pretty bummed when they bolted after Boutte's catch. I think they bolted before the ball was caught because we all turned to them immediately after the play to get back at them for the taunts they threw our way.
A few complaints, some, as usual, are about the refereeing. Questionable DPI calls, including the one the Jets declined. Wilson pushed off on that one and it looked like OPI to me on the replay. The missed helmet-to-helmet penalty - it was very obvious live. Another one was at the end of the half, when the Patriots stupidly ran the clock out. Brissett was stopped on the final play, whistles blew and the Jets still drove him to the ground. That was classic unnecessary roughness, especially with regards to the QB. Call that stuff! The worst call was the defensive holding on a run play on a Patriots defensive lineman who was double-teamed on the play. That was NOT holding.
One last question about the refereeing... late in the 3rd, the Patriots punted and the Jets fielded it at the 26. The Jets returner got it back to the 32 but there was a flag. The refs announced the penalty as "During the return - holding - 10 yard penalty from the end of the run". Is that right?? Isn't it supposed to be 10 yards from the spot of the foul or, in the case of a punt, 10 yards from where they fielded the ball?
I think a big under the radar story is LB Christian Ellis.
He led the team with 9 tackles ... but not just that ... he has improved each week here.
If nothing else we are building a half decent back half of nest years roster.
Wolf produced the RT and C since the season started, and Jordan back in January, without sacrificing any assets, so I think that's what he's referring to.True, Jordan might be getting exposed a little bit but he was still a good piece as far as being reliable and doing his job. Granted he's kind of a "legacy" player who's been kicking around NE for a little while but on the PS mostly.
Seems like Mayo is mainly trying to pump up his OL a little after giving them crap earlier in the season and also trying to pat Wolf on the back a little extra to maintain good relations. "Maybe if I say something nice about Eliot, he'll listen when I ask him if we can trade for a WR..."
He said a similar thing after thr week 1 win.Uh... I wouldn't go that far bud
I do think Wolf and company did a good job identifying Demontrey Jacobs and Ben Brown off of other team's waivers/practice squads, but I don't think I'd call the unit a "strength" moreso as "not a total disaster anymore".... Although "not a total disaster" probably describes the OLs of half the league at least
Fines are announced Saturday around 4 PMAny fines on Sherwood for the cheap shot yet
You sound like a fan who is enjoying their team. Who could disagree with that?@archstanton543 what are you objecting to?
I did not say that everything is great with this team I am simply happy that they won a game...
I missed a good chunk of the game because i could no longer take the officiating, not because of the level of play.Good points about the refereeing.
I think that 10 yards from the end of the run was just a mistake in diction -- I think that they spotted the ball, as they should have, 10 yards from the spot of the foul. But I'll have to watch the game to check.
Another terrible call in favour of the JETE was on the Pats' first punt. If you look again, you'll see that Schooler was rugby tackled on his way to the returner -- and there was no one in the way for the ref not to see it.
The non-PI against (IIRC) Thornton was terrible too. There was clear contact with the receiver before the ball arrived.
Finally, there was a JETE catch towards the end of the game that seemed to me to hit the ground and help the player get control. The Pats should have challenged that one, though.
It made beating the JETE and the NYFL together even more enjoyable.
(We didn't have any a-hole JETE fans near us, to be fair. In fact, after the game a JETE fan in a Chrebet jersey was bewailing his lot and I said "You know, I'm so happy I almost feel sorry for you!")
Then he isn't a stud LT. By definition. Question: If Lowe were in the 2024 or 2025 draft where do you think he would have been drafted? I say day 3.What if stud LT is worse than Lowe ?
The challenge is very few highly drafted LTs perform par for the course. It's becoming a challenge to really find them via draft. Few pan out. its either top 5 . Outside that it's a coin toss. So if lowe becomes above average take that as a win and hopefully maye can elevate the line with his mobility, accuracy and depp passes. We just need wide receivers who can exploit that so that pass rush becomes insignificant making the line even stronger and automatically elevating RPO and running game. Then he isn't a stud LT. Are we saying at his current playing abilities? As a half decent LT, I'd expect probably round 2. No worse than round 3.Then he isn't a stud LT. By definition. Question: If Lowe were in the 2024 or 2025 draft where do you think he would have been drafted? I say day 3.
Right. At this stage the current crop of LT prospects available at the top of the draft are not locks to be better than what Lowe is already doing. Meanwhile, the crop of WR prospects available at the top of the draft are miles ahead of what they currently have rostered. And a good fleet of weapons paired with a mobile QB does a lot to boost the ability of an average line, more than plugging in a maybe-better-than-average LT to an average line. The challenge is very few highly drafted LTs perform par for the course. The way Wolf has been in on every half-decent premium WR, makes me think that he knows that's where he wants to go.Right. Cam Robinson should be the top LT in 2025 nobody should Outbid us for him.Right.
