In fairness to Boutte, he basically said the same thing in his postgame interview. That he was looking at the defender and just needs to do his job.
Wilson had more receiving yards then our entire group yesterday. What is your take on Lil Marcus being put on bigger WRs?

We are in better shape than the Jets in our division now. The great Aaron experiment is pretty much over, and once again the Jests will be looking for a QB.

After Brady left we went through Cam Newton, Bryan Hoyer, Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe, and Jacoby Brissett until we found our Drake Maye.

Contrast that to the Jets. Since Chad Pennington left in 2007 they have gone through, Kellen Clemens, Brett Favre, Mark Sanchez, Greg McElroy, Gino Smith, Michael Vick, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Bryce Petty, Josh McCowan, Sam Darnold, Luke Falk, Trevor Simien, Joe Flacco, Mike White, Tim Boyle and Aaron Rogers.
Looks like they will again be searching in the off season.

One comment I meant to make was that Jacoby was not hesitant when he went back to pass. He got rid of the ball timely and decisively.

Outside cb should be one of the priorities next year. There will be a few hitting fa.
He had good coverage on some of the catches. He got beat pretty good on the one pass down the middle, but Wilson made some pretty impressive catches with Marcus on top of him.

He definitely competed and im not gonna criticize that performance at all. But with his size hed be much better inside, or he’ll have this happen pretty often especially when he sees the bigger guys.

As bad a situation the Patriots are in, the Jets top it with an even more toxic situation. Superior roster but even worse coaching staff than Mayo's.

I was at the game, almost left early but decided to stay. After the defense got a stop. Lots of empty seats.

Jets got to bogus pass interference calls. Thornton was clearly bumped hard right before that pass. Should of caught it anyway, but it was bullcrap that the ref did not call PI.

Defense played just well enough. Rodgers had some real nice passes. Jacoby still is terrible.
Yes there was contact before the drop, plus Mills got his left hand in there and helped knock the ball out. So it wasn't a brutal drop, looked worse than it was.

It's a shame because Austin, bolden and Wilson are all 6ft CBs who showed promises.. but neither of them have made any impact. It's telling when the team has to put a 5"9 guy on a 6"1 playmaker.

Marcus had no business on Wilson! Just a utter mismatch. It speaks more to how the team feels about the CB depth.

Very disappointing. I had hopes for Austin and wilson but we clearly need to invest some money into this next year.

It is. Wilson is the most disappointing as he was a starter for Arizona. I really thought he'd make a difference. Guys that were given primed opportunities this season failed.. uche, Thornton, Wilson, McMillan.. I don't think anyone of these guys are here next season.

First of all - Marcus should very rarely if ever again draw a second WR1 level player in the CB2 role. The Jets are just uniquely loaded.

Second - I think in general he is playing well enough, but he’s not an outside corner. He is basically doing the “Jon Jones”, where he is a good slot corner who is playing outside because he’s also a better outside corner than the other available outside corners. They had the actual Jon Jones playing some safety today to help out due to guys missing there, and he’s kind of lost a step this year which is understandable at his age.

They need to find a solid CB2 in 2025 which shouldn’t be outlandishly difficult. A veteran would be best. That would let them put Marcus back in the slot where he’s best. In the interim, he’s handling an outside job well enough all things considered, and it’s good experience. He’s playing with very good effort which is nice to see. Hustle player.

There won’t necessarily be a LT with a grade that high at that pick. So it would make more sense to get the top WR (the other big need on offense) and try to shore things up on the line later/elsewhere. As things look now, Wallace hopefully will come back and become a solid RT, and Lowe has been a decent LT when healthy. Jacobs as the swing tackle. Guard should be OK between Strange, Onwenu, Robinson, Sow and Jordan. Center will have Brown and hopefully Andrews. So you can hopefully fortify tackle with another mid rounder and maybe a free agent. I know Cam Robinson is due to hit the market, and a couple other guys, that might be a possibility.
The thing with that is: If we take a WR 1st because of "value", by the time our next available pick comes up all the top LTs will probably be gone. And the need for a stud LT is more dire, IMO. The ideal scenario would be to trade down a bit and still get a stud LT, even if you're taking pennies on the dollar in the draft trade. But as many have said, it's a bad year to be bad. There a few players teams will just have to have so there won't be as robust a trade market as years past.

I'd rather get a stud LT. Even if we have to overdraft him by 5 or 10 slots. Priority #1 is protecting the franchise QB.

I’d posit that the Pats may be able to pass Miami too. Tua’s health seems like it’s perpetually one hit away from disaster (and probably doesn’t even need to be a bad hit at this point) and their cap situation was also similarly set up like NYJ’s to target a “window” which is quickly closing shut. If the Pats can build on this and get their acts together from a coaching standpoint, draft and develop well next year and make some key free agent acquisitions, they will be able to grab the 2 spot in the division easily and maybe challenge the Bills. Heck, at this point they might be able to finish 2nd in the east THIS year considering they have an equal win count with Miami and the Jete right now.

Lamar Jackson has a chance to match or exceed a QB record that I thought was untouchable. He has a shot at PEDton's record of 9 one and done playoffs.
The Choker will make it.

Not a good matchup. Undersized. I’d like to see how Bolden does, or even Dial. Dial was getting some work on STs iirc.

Marcus is sticky and makes WRs appear covered. A QB that knows the matchup will just float it whenever there isn't a safety helping out, as Rodgers did with Wilson several times. So it goes.

Still a good player to have on defense of course. He just needs a couple of slightly taller serviceable CBs with him out there, so he's not forced into bad matchups or roles that don't suit him. A solid CB2 is an offseason priority.

I think you have a valid point of risking injury in a season that cant be salvaged. But does that out weigh continuing his development for the future? And how does putting a clipboard in his hand for the rest of the season impact him? The kid is super competitive and clearly wants to be on the field, how much of a negative impact would that have on him? We could all step out of our houses tomorrow and get hit by lightning. Every game and every play is a risk of being career ending. I think you make sure that he is not rushed back on the field but when cleared and is ready you put him back out there.
I’m not sure his development will benefit by playing with a high school level football team. For one thing, he needs to be running less not more, but playing with WRs who can’t separate or catch, and behind a serve of an OL, he will be learning he should run more not less. He has already experienced the speed of the pro game and showed it’s no problem for him. Same about reading defenses. I’d rather see Milton get some development time if it comes to that. But I’m not a fan of the sell everything approach, I’d really rather see if any of the young prospects can develop the Boutte seems to be. Thornton is a lost cause, and I’d give Osborn what he wants, but otherwise I’d insist on selling high and I doubt there would be buyers for that.
