Because it wasn’t.

From both videos I saw jester chest pad hit drake shoulder pad and impact caused his upper body to go to ground faster where head hit turf.

Not nice; but as others said Drake needs to slide earlier & nyJfl already has enough rules that force defenders on their back heels or make them pretend to know the future

2 seconds earlier Drake just ran thru THREE DEFENDERS!! Then he continues to run after the 1st down marker. How the heck is that guy supposed to know FOR SURE that Drane is about to slide??
Ok, Just watched a third video (posted by Neuronet) At this point in video (see photo); I NOW see why folks THINK it was helmet-helmet. Drakes head definitely snaps at contact.

The thing is; I’m still not sure (based on other videos) that it was the jester helmet that caused the contact.

And Drake slid late; so regardless if was or wasn’t…, I don’t see it as INTENTIONAL Dirty.

If was h-contact; yes should have been flag.

The Pats beat the loaded Jets with the BOAT at QB while the Indiots and Ratbirds lost heartbreakers. What a great day.

I was talking to my son in LA before the game and he was telling me that he had Chris Godwin as his #1 receiver in his fantasy league but now had to rely on Boutte. That worked out okay for him.

I heard something about the Jets leading the league in drops but the Pats have to be close after this week. I can't recall seeing so many drops in one game.

It should be a bit quieter around here this week. The Tankheads are reeling after a Pats win and the Billdos might not talk **** about Mayo in every thread.

Drake Maye is deceptively fast in the open field. I see defenders who think they have the angle but end up losing it.

It doesn't seem to matter who owns the Jets, coaches them or plays for them. They're always the S.O.J.

I saw a tweet that said he had the 2d fastest speed of ANY player this week in open field running (ball carriers?) at over 20 mph. (On the TD run, I think).

I believe so since he started the game.
Because of the way the NFL records it, he gets credit as the starter for the win. If this was baseball, he would not because Brissett came in and led a comeback (in fact he did it twice). In reality, nobody is going to to look at this game and think of it as a win for Maye. Maybe that happens if it is like that 2016 Miami game where Jimmy G got us a big lead and then Brissett came in after his injury and sort of coasted the rest of the way.

It was definitely I went to helmet. It's not conjecture.

As we evaluate the team and the leadership of it presently in place, we have to bear in mind that the fact that Pats won this game is but a single data point among many relativ e to this particular game, let alone in the context of the season as a whole. I frankly think this fact, once all necessary discounting of its import is accomplished - including the outlandish incompetence of the opponent - is of little value as we evaluate where we are. While I will not say the win carries no significance, I don't think it means a great deal. It does suggest that the players still support and appreciate their head coach, but we might be wise to note that this is the impression of the players on what is arguably still the worst team in the league, and that losers will often show appreciation for those who ask little of them, and will engage in such nonsense as celebrating a 2-6 record.

I really hope Maye doesn't miss a lot time he still made an Impact before the injury a sign of Greatness.

Right on que, a Raven player is crowing that everyone knows who should have won.

I’m optimistic that he will be back next week also, but we’ll see. Definitely need to get these guys working on catching. You’d think for how much they talk, they’d be able to perform their main responsibility.
In fairness Tyquan and Bourne weren’t mouthing off about how great they were prior to their drops. However Boutte was and it was a pretty bad look until he made some big catches late.

Why bring him back?

Everybody on this board is posting calls to sell every player not named Drake before the trade deadline because the season is lost.

If it’s that bleak why put Maye back on the field to chance another freak injury in a meaningless game?
Not sure if this is a serious comment

This current version of the team is a bottom roster who's injury plagued and talent devioided. For then to match last seasons record at 4-13 would be an uphill battle especially with Brissett having to start. The odds of winning on a scratch ticket have the same odds as us winning a game this season. I would like the team to be sellers. Collect draft capital and allow the rookies and unproven players to play. Therefore you know what you have going forward to surround Drake with. In 3 games Drake has been Impressive. He's a leader, he makes guys better, and he breaks down defenses with his arm talent and athletic ability.

Meanwhile Osborn was *****ing the most and did absolutely nothing, barely even saw the field.

Looked to me like Boutte was eye balling that DB coming opposite direction and had him bore sited. Catch the ball, take the hit. Easy for me to say.

Lamar Jackson has a chance to match or exceed a QB record that I thought was untouchable. He has a shot at PEDton's record of 9 one and done playoffs.

Same here brother. Looks like the ship has sailed on our guy TT... just sell any tradable asset and collect draft capital.

I'm thinking Tyquan, uche, maybe Jon Jones? We need to surround maye with elite talent.

In fairness to Boutte, he basically said the same thing in his postgame interview. That he was looking at the defender and just needs to do his job.

What they used to tell players in that situation was that you may as well catch it because you're going to take the hit anyway. Players aren't allowed to do that nowadays though.

I think you have a valid point of risking injury in a season that cant be salvaged. But does that out weigh continuing his development for the future? And how does putting a clipboard in his hand for the rest of the season impact him? The kid is super competitive and clearly wants to be on the field, how much of a negative impact would that have on him? We could all step out of our houses tomorrow and get hit by lightning. Every game and every play is a risk of being career ending. I think you make sure that he is not rushed back on the field but when cleared and is ready you put him back out there.

It was interesting that Mayo highlighted the safeties immediately after the game, giving them 3 game balls. We heard a lot of talk about Gonzo and Marcus during the game but very little about Hawkins and Mapu. I didn't remember hearing Pettus at all. Just proves all of us "TV experts" don't know bupkis.
