Looks like BUF is really feeling it...

Imagine a Patriots player walking into the locker room after a game screaming about a specific beat reporter.

He got hurt about halfway through. It showed.

If you think there's a better option sitting out there, you're out of your mind.
The 8 game winning streak spoiled a lot of people. A lot of us forgot that this rebuild will take years rather than happen overnight. Paying a good, but not great, corner top of the market money would be very un Belichick like. Most likely, Bill will attempt to develop the next man up. Why overpay when you are not a contender? It has nothing to do with what else is available.

A roster ideal for playing power run, big personnel smash mouth offense, with an oc obsessed with returning to weak crappy spread offense. And a hard-on for NKeal Harry's instagram workouts.
That’s Captain Stone funny.

I agree. So much depends on team building. Allen has shown he can improvise like crazy, can make people miss on the ground, can make all the throws on schedule and off. Mac can/will improve, but a high bar is being set. I think we'll need to out-develop the Bills to get back to taking AFCE titles. BUF is kind of moving through their window, but our FA spending means we can't count on just buying our way to the top. We gotta hit on FA, drafting, trades, everywhere. Our LBs are old and slow, it really showed today.
The one thing about Allen is that his game is eerily similar to Cam’s early career, except Allen significantly improved his mechanics to a much higher level than Cam ever had. I’m saying that because Cam had 8 years as a good NFL QB before the injuries were too much and ruined both his arms and his legs (while still fast, his burst is not the same as it was in his first Carolina run). By the time the Pats have that truly rebuilt team (with solid LBs, another DT, and with WRs who might be more than the 3rd WR on other teams), it’s certainly possible Allen’s best years would be behind him. Very few running QBs last in the league.

Now, the Allen we saw today looked like Aaron Rodgers because even if injuries pile up he’ll still be a problem with his accuracy and decision making. But Allen hasn’t looked like this much this season (unlike last year). But if Allen does continue to play at this level, then we definitely need to hit home runs and not just singles in our personnel development.

He must be the reporter who asked him if he was embarrassed about the last time the Pats-Bills met...
That sounds logical

We also have to remember Mac is a rookie and Allen is a fourth year player in the NFL. Big difference at the QB position.
True, but I think we all have to keep in mind Mac has always been said to be NFL ready but not having an abundance of upside. Remember all those Chad Pennington comps? We may be seeing what that's like. Again, I have hopes for more, yet not gonna count on it. IMO if the team is any good at self-scouting, they should be realizing that have to really raise the talent level around him if they want to make progress much beyond what we're now seeing.

I’ll keep it simple. First off, Bills outplayed the Pats and it is not up for debate. Although it seems the last 2 weeks that the calls were not in the Pats favor, you can’t give them anything to call regardless. No flinching, no holding, no stupid penalties. It bothers me that plays break down and they couldn’t find the hold on Judon on Allens 4th down conversion flick. Is what it is.

Couple of sore subjects. Ok maybe more than that.

Wynn was god awful today, i want to say his man got away from him 50% of the day and he did just enough to protect the blindside from being sacked almost every play. Awful

Defense was abysmal. Chalk it up to a fine game plan and a excellent qb using what was given to him. He went deep maybe two times today. Killed this defense in the short to medium field all day in a very decisive manner. No panic in him. Sound familiar? And oh yeah, Steve Young like legs today. Not sure if a spy would of helped today? Allen was hot and without interior pressure he would of found the open man.

Barmore has been the most welcome rookie to this defense in years. His rookie penalty cost this team a get off field which they didnt do today. He’s safe, he’s going to be a monster and deserves a break. He didn't have much today but neither did anyone on the front 7. They weren’t stellar at running the ball today but they didnt have to be. Basically used the pass as their run and created opportunites when they did run the ball to get like 3-5 ypc which is efficient.

As mentioned pass protection was bad and so was Mac. He looked terrible actually. He’s played against good defenses and played well. He was able to redeem himself in 2nd half vs Colts. I’d say this and The Saints game was certainly the worst of his career. He looked Zach Wilson bad today but give me a break to the people that are saying he hasn’t played anyone yet.

As bad as the pass protection was the running game got it done on the ground. I’d like to see the Pats start the game running outside and then move the runs to the interior to create the holes once they adjust. Harris was A+ today. Not sure of his status today of availability but he came through. So it seemed a tale of two lines today as far as pass blocking and run blocking.

Anyway, this season has been one of serious ups and downs. So used to ups the last 20 years with Brady so this rebuilding has taken a little bit of getting used to. I have found it to be fun and it is taking me back to my roots in the 80’s and 90s where every win mattered. Rebuilds were every 3-5 years. Losers can come into this forum and troll if they want to and discuss the demise of the dynasties. Doesn’t take away from the fact that they happened. I feel like as fans we’ve leaped back to what every other fan goes through and I’m ok with it. It’s been fun watching this team come together with the uncertainty that comes with being guided by a rookie qb.

Just for perspective - if I came to you at the end of the last game of last year's 7-9 mess of a season and said "Hey, next year the Pats are gonna draft a QB in the first round, spend a bunch of money in free agency, split their games with the Bills and win 11 games en route to a wild card berth", I would imagine you'd be damn happy about that! That's a very realistic outcome for this season.

You can’t expect the defense to play balls to the wall every week in the NFL. There will be games where the team you play has a QB playing out of his mind, like today. This tends to happen in the biggest games against the biggest teams. Mac has done well this year as a rookie, but where he ends up in his development is everything.

Allen, Mahomes, and others are capable of winning games on their own. That’s what we saw today. One guy was single handedly able to control the game and the other guy wasn’t.

There was that damned off side penalty tho...
Sadly the way the defense was playing, I expected Buffalo to go for it anyway on 4th and 7 and convert. They had our number today, exploiting our LBs and Bryant in coverage.

If the Steelers lose (they’re going to), does a win over Jax clinch a playoff spot?

I think we all knew the bills were the better team. We were just hoping they didn't play like it. Defense, total disappointment. Not one single big stop. Didn't force one single punt. Just an absolute pathetic effort from them today. I've already moved on mentally and I'm done drinking the koolaid. Whatever happens from here on out happens.
I really don't think the Bills are better

Agree his running will be less of his game going forward, and agree that today he looked exceptionally sharp. Yet when he's on he can make a lot of plays both on schedule and off. He's not consistently unbelievable to the same degree of Rogers or Mahomes but he does have a lot of their ability to improvise in him.

I think starting with the last draft the Kraft family has put Belichick on notice not to screw the pooh with dreadful drafts.

Mac Jones and Christian Barmore are a big improvement over the previous five drafts or so.

And our O line rebounded this season as a formidable _run_ blocking group.

But outside of Jakoby Meyers, there is no consistent threat from the passing game.

Am I alone in developing a real distaste at seeing N’Keal Harry out on the field? What is McDaniels thinking?

The whole second half Harry was running at three quarter speed with his mouth guard dangling free.

I read that Wynns option has been picked up, is this true?

I watch Allen a lot since I live in Buffalo. He is incredibly shaky throwing downfield with pressure. I wouldnt put him in the Rodgers category at all. Even today you could see something off in his longer throws.

They were saying that on the broadcast today. Buffalo was really shaken by that loss and then came out like crap against Tampa. I was hoping it would be the moment that broke them. But they rebounded against Tampa and it brought them together as a team and really made them focused and motivated. Not surprised to read that comment. I think this team is really dangerous right now. Problem is, even with that, we generally ran the ball well on them this week. I still don’t think they make it past Indy or the Titans in the playoffs, but if they manage to avoid them both and stay focused like this? They can beat anyone else.

Uh, Harry was out there because Agolor was hurt and Bourne was coming off covid.

No excuse for not forcing a single punt, even on a bad day.
