- Interesting game. After our first drive, I felt a comfort I had not experienced since early November.
- I was more afraid of injuries than the Chiefs.
- It appears Edelman is ok and it was a precautionary x-ray shot.
- Can anybody tell me what Dola was thinking with that cheap shot? WTH?
- I think special teams had more penalties than any unit out there today. How do you line up offside for a kickoff?
- I think injuries are just a function of playing too deep into the season for so long. 5 straight AFC Championship games is no joke.
Great game!! I had the same feeling as you. Once they came out & went right down the field and scored I knew we were going to win, but at the same time, the game felt close and competitive until the very end.
I want to say thanks to Edelman, Gronk, Vollmer and anyone else who played despite pretty serious injuries, and played so well. The game plan was great and they executed it to perfection on offense. Whether it was the return of Vollmer & Edelman, or two weeks off for rest and practice, the O line played great. The Chiefs never really got near Brady all night, except for one cheap shot, for which they were flagged.
It seems Edelman is okay, but a little worried about all the injuries on D. I was at the game and did not notice that all those guys went out - just that we were having so much trouble containing Smith. On every third down play it seemed that either he ran free, or when the D tried to contain him, someone else was wide open in the flat. Maddening! But at least all the injuries, esp. to the linebackers, explain it. Also, we will not have to face a mobile QB next week. I thought Smith was way better than advertised - he played really well, just couldn't punch it in in the first half and too plodding, which helped them keep Brady off the field in the first half, but was their undoing in the 2nd.
I don't know what Danny was doing, but I don't think he was trying to hurt the guy. It's almost like it was the little kid taking his one shot when he could, just to make the big guys respect him. Calling for a suspension is ridiculous, but a fine is probably on its way.
It's incredible that Andy Reid has STILL not learned clock management since the 2004 Super Bowl. As the Chiefs sat there fiddling away what felt like an eternity before the 2 minute warning, everyone in the stands was laughing at them in disbelief. My daughter was asking what happens when they score here and if they recover the on-side kick, and I told her it didn't matter as they did not leave themselves enough time to score two touchdowns. Hello Andy, you need two scores here, not one!! Gronk was clutch on the on-side recovery as usual.
That's all I have for now. Great game by the Pats. Thank you to my team for being the best pro team on earth in the last 15 years. How lucky am I to have been a fan for so many years, never guessing how great this ride was going to be!
