PATRIOTS NEWS OFFICIAL: Patriots Finally Acquire AJ Brown

Breaking New England Patriots Team News
Roseman is a top GM in the whole NFL. Maybe you are not aware of that. Roseman has all of the insider medical information. He is dumping Brown with a huge cap hit in '26 and '27 after paying a huge price to trade for Brown two years ago. Have you asked yourself why?
FOUR years ago, he traded a picks that became Treylon Burks and Jeremy Ruckert for him. He traded him away now because he’s paying Hurts $32 million dollars this year.

He doesn't want to play there anymore and is not on good terms with their QB.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That is the homer view. OK, I hope it works out. I hope I am wrong, but we have seen this scenario before where PatsFans goes crazy.

Ah, now I understand.
Another homer who has lost prespective and thinks the championship window is wide open.
It is Year 2 of a rebuild, get a grip.
It is year 2 of a rebuild.
It is year 3 of Drake Maye's rookie contract. It is year 4 of Christian Gonzalez' rookie contract.
A very flawed team made the Super Bowl last year. They've spent the offseason filling a lot of those holes.

This is the window. This is what a successful rebuild is supposed to look like.

So a 2028 1st is going to derail a rebuild and our trajectory?
I strongly disagree.
I suppose if you want to be a real Pollyanna, you can hope to recover from the misstep, but the likelihood is that by the time we can actually benefit from taking on a player with only a brief swan song to sing, when the roster is far less weak top-to-bottom than it is now and we have a legit shot at winning the championship, your precious savior will be limping off to retirement. You know it and I know it. When your happiness requires an irresponsibly short-sighted view, your happiness is false.

That is why I have unlimited responses right now. Because homers think I am shattering their championship window. I am not doing anything other than post on an Internet message board
Homers? What sort of 3-4 year plan did you have in mind that involves paying Drake Maye at the top of the market for his position by the time that plan ought to have results?
I do agree that Brown's '26 and '27 cap hits makes this deal unique, and enhance its value. It is a hail mary trade, but it will not sink the rebuild if it goes bad.
So you'd rather see them manage this team based on fear. Cool

Well I appreciate Boutte being a good sport about this. But he probably sees the writing on the wall. If the Patriots can get any kind of draft value in return, Boutte is probably moving on soon.

UNLESS. And this is a big caveat, he's willing to take a reasonable intermediary deal before hitting free agency. 3/33 extension, what do you say Kayshon? Do you want to stay with a Superbowl contender or will you chase the Big money your agent wants you to go after?

Agree, this is a win now situation.

So you’re not keeping up? Damn dude. It’s pretty easy.

Are the Patriots better next season with AJ Brown or with a first round pick two years from now?
With AJ Brown which is why I don’t understand you thinking all of those guys are:
All guys who would have certainly been better to help improve the QB you’re hoping is the franchise for the origination the next 12-15 years

Are you actually drunk?

Lol @ "the homer view". More like the factual view. It's a known fact he didn't want to play there anymore.

I read they drain his knee weekly during the season. I have no inside knowledge, only what I read on the Internet.
It's like you are getting your information from Trump. The reality as I heard it, he was draining his knees down the end of their latest Superbowl run, He did NOT drain his knees last season and there is no reason to think he'll need to do it this year

You sound like Felgar who whines like the Eagles got every #1 pick we have in perpetuity. Think of it like this. You just bought a luxury sports car for a fair price, and you can drive it around for 2 full years before you have to pay a dime for it. BTW- I have to admit I too thought he was draining his knees last season too.

he missed two games. He was on pace for 1136 yds over 17 games and last year was considered a bad season.
It will only get worse this year. We could have resigned Diggs for that production and kept our 1st and 5th round picks.
It isn’t a panic move at all. It’s Vrabel bringing back a player he likes, trust and that can help Drake Maye not taking a step back.
Let's hope. Who is a better GM, Vrable or Roseman? Serious question because you think Vrable is better and most people outside of NE would stongly disagree with you.
They have a full offseason in 2027 and free agency in 2028 to build the team so that this 1st round pick in 2028 doesn’t matter.
LOL. That has to be the biggest homer take ever. My God.
If this pick end up mattering a lot then something has gone horribly wrong
Nope. It only means the Pats are on a typical rebuild cycle.

Far from his prime, 32 million a year
Not sure where $32M comes from.
Per CBS, his cap charges are:
2026 $7M
2027 $11M
2028 $18M
2029 $24M
2030 void $53M

Part of the high cost is to offset the fact that a big chunk of his cost is covered by Philly.
Including the void cost, that's $28M per year, which is perfectly reasonable for a top starting receiver.
The short-term cap costs are ridiculously low.
Valid question on whether the Patriots want to restructure to convert some of those option bonuses into roster bonuses, and incur more of that ahead of the Maye/Gonzalez/Campbell second-contract costs in 2030.

FOUR years ago, he traded a picks that became Treylon Burks and Jeremy Ruckert for him. He traded him away now because he’s paying Hurts $32 million dollars this year.
Also drafted Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson which is the main reason for the need to splash on AJ in the first place, Howie is a good GM one of the best if not the best but the guy isn't a god they all make big mistakes.

He has made some absolutely bonehead moves like anyone else.

Well I appreciate Boutte being a good sport about this. But he probably sees the writing on the wall. If the Patriots can get any kind of draft value in return, Boutte is probably moving on soon.
Why? We use 3 WRs most of the snaps.
Brown
Doubs
Boutte
are the best 3.
Why would we get rid of a starter?

This might be the most nonsense I've ever read in 3 sentences.

I think we've found Felger's secret account here. Using homer five times in every post is a giveaway.
