PATRIOTS NEWS OFFICIAL: Patriots Finally Acquire AJ Brown

Breaking New England Patriots Team News
The next two seasons?

You're not giving up a first for two years of production.

Check my comment history. I was basically first on the we're getting AJ Brown going back a year now.

This ain't about the player. It's about the compensation.

They player wanted out. He only wanted NE, and it was going to happen.

Glad to have the player. They got taken to the cleaners on the compensation.
Absolutely agree

I think some of you are being dramatic with the whole "mortgage the future" angle. If we draft a bust in the first round and sign a bust FA in the next couple of years, would you guys say that derails our whole team? I'd say that's over the top. Obviously this is a sizable investment in terms of money and draft capital. but to say this is some massive all in move is exaggeration.

Elite by what standard? Not elite to the Eagles who know the most intricate details and just dumped him with a huge cap hit this year and next.
Not elite to the Eagles, who have no passing game to utillize him.

The Patriots basically gave up the equivalent of a 2nd rounder and 5th rounder in 2027 for Brown. That is fair value. I don't think either side fleeced the other or got fleeced.
….I’ll echo others stating - the hope is to be a top team, meaning it’d be a low ish first round pick.

Yeah, because the Pats got to the SB and now the team management has lost perspective. I like the 2026 draft, but this is a 3 or 4 year plan, and there is no reason to panic and start giving away 1st round draft picks for injured players on the decline.
There is no plan if the quarterback doesn't continue to develop though, weapons and protection while he's young gives him the best chance to become the player who's ready to completely carry the team by the time he's paid like a top QB in the NFL.

I can see your point of view but i can also see why they did it you don't want an undermanned offensive team while the QB is on the rookie contract but giving you elite play, there's a 2 year window to stack the team before the QB is paid 65m a year and his job will then be to carry it with less.

He’s an elite #1 wide receiver.
He was an elite #1 wide receiver when the Eagles traded for him from the Titans. Two years later the Eagles want to dump him? Why? Because Brown is not elite anymore according to Roseman the GM of the Eagles (who is a better talent appraiser than you with a lot more insider information than you).
Yes the Patriots are taking on money, yes they traded a first in 2028, this is a guaranteed 1000 yard WR and a big target for Drake Maye. He’s also a top deep ball threat.
Brown has lost a step. The Eagles know that and are dumping him. We will see.
A first rounder can turn into anything, it can even turn into N’Keal Harry.
This is true, but if the Pats do not trust their draft management, they should change the management, not pick up WRs who have lost a step.

A pro bowl wide receiver is a pro bowl wide receiver, but a first round pick could be anything! Even a pro bowl wide receiver! You know how long we’ve wanted one of those!
Why yes I do. What I understand and you do not is just how irrational your frustration has made you. But enjoy your giddy little moment, before reality hits home.

The Eagles needed to trade Brown, more than we needed him

I am having a hard time getting excited about giving up a 1st & 5th for a 29 year old receiver

It is over, but it is definitely a reach !

Not elite to the Eagles, who have no passing game to utillize him.
Well said, Maye passed for 600+ yards more than Hurts ever has, run first team with a dominant top 3 RB and one of most efficient and best rushing QBs all time. When they do through they had two terrific WRs and top 10 TE every time. Still went for 1000+

In NFL trade value that's a 2nd and a5th for one of the best receivers in football. And with all of the moves they have made this offseason no one is going to be able to go small on defense ag as inst them. I don't believe Seattle will be able to go with 2 high safeties this time around.

This is a mistake, the sort of thing the Jets would do, snatching at shiny objects, overpaying for has-beens. We had a nice little rebuild going there, based on draft and develop; now we're like the fat lady shopping for eight-pound bags of pork rinds at Walmart. Enjoy...for now. I'll get back to you.
So a 2028 1st is going to derail a rebuild and our trajectory?
I strongly disagree.

Curious what you would have considers fair compensation
