Boutte had a nasty ankle injury requiring two surgeries and has not been in he same since…..Had a horrible outing at combine….hope he can return to his freshman year production level….and not another Dobson

That article reminds me of how awesome a name "Major Burns" has. good player too

Can one be a bust when drafted that late ? What is the most probable course of action for a player drafted that low ? I’d say they have a better chance of getting cut than making the team.
True but I can name a few WRs that are still available I'd take over him.

Well the draft STARTED well imho, but I have to say I'm more than a bit baffled by what happened today and I'm trying to figure it out.

a. The freakin' kicker in the FOURTH - We currently have a kicker who has been nothing less than spectacular since he's been here. He's hit over 85% of his attempts inside 52. How much better do you have to be. The only POSSIBLE reason for this pick is the need to get someone who can KO. We WERE hurt several times by his short KO's after Bailey went down. But I'm grasping at straws here. BTW, never heard of this kid in the run up to the draft. Oh, we also had to trade UP to get him.

I've got to agree with you. Spending two picks including the 4th to move up for a kicker is baffling when you have a veteran kicker in Nick Folk who made over 85% of his kicks last year. This will be even more sad if we cut the guy in training camp when he can't beat out our established veteran.

b. Then there are the 2 no-name interior OLmen. Now I acknowledge there is a need to start to develop an after DAndrews contingency plan, but COME ON MAN!, You couldn't have figure out how to take Breeland, You couldn't take Duncan, or Warren. We have 2 of the best young OG's in the league and our response is to add MORE. We have one of the best FG kickers in the league, and our response is to move UP in the prime of the draft and grab a kid whose stats are monumentally mediocre! Sorry, but I don't get it.

We reached in round 4 on those offensive linemen. We had plenty of ammo to move up and get some good players but decided to stand pat and reach for guys who were slated for 6th, 7th round or even UDFA.

c They still have a couple of picks to go and it seemed like they got the perfect boom or bust WR. I liked THAT one. But you know me. I LOVED the first 2 picks, and I was OK with the 3rd, though I would have rather had Kraft. But today, was like going back into the bad stretch of the draft, really inexplicable, Now I'm sure we all complained about the Owenu pick because he was a no name OG. Maybe this kicker will be great, and the OG's will all play major roles in a few years, but as of today, with another 3 months before camp starts, I'm pretty much stunned

Boutte and Demario Douglas might be the saving grace of this draft if one of them can pan out. But it's more like we lit dollar store firecrackers and hope they vastly outperform where we drafted them. Well, here's hoping!

Agreed, Day 3 for the most part, and half of Day 2 felt like a lot of wasted opportunities to improve the team.

"Yaay we drafted kickers and STers"... said nobody ever.

There goes Vorhees to the Ravens.

It's this kind of hype crap that Kayshon bought into down here. My post got bypassed quick, but he's just not that good! And I went to LSU and watch every game every season.
You might be entirely correct about Boutte, but when people walk through the desert without water, they thirst for a single drop of hope. The timing of the Boutte pick is what makes people hopeful, because were getting absolutely NOTHING to help improve the offense or skill positions until that pick happened.

could have done without the Lousy Vince Neil rehash from last night.. *SMH* WOW, his voice has gotten bad..

like the first 2 picks and antonio mafi . kicker and punter are needed but trade up was unnecessary. Rest of them seem headscratchers. Boutte is worth the risk as a sixth rounder. considering that they were very reluctant to give up the 4th round picks i am thinking all 7 top drafted players make it to 53 or get foxborough flu.

the 5th - 7th rounders are gonna push everyone else for a spot. so its more competition. some low ceiling folks like myles bryant, ferentz, mac wilson woud probably be released. all the offensive linemen drafted last year are on notice. lets see who can stick from them.

So how many of these picks did they coach or see up-close in the Senior Bowl or East-West Shrine Bowl? Seems like an awful lot of the later round picks. That makes sense, because they could evaluate them for real rather than just watching tape or having a brief visit, so uncertainty much lower.

As someone who saw just about every 80's rock bands in person live, I can confirm Vince Neil never had a good voice. There are some legitimately great singers in that genre. Vince was never one of them.

The studio production did wonders for him.

I’m not going to tell them to retire but the days on playing on tv instead of the local bars should be over. That was beyond bad.
I think the PLAYING is fine.. Neil missed almost all his cues and sounded horrid..

And on my previous post, I said I'm rooting for the young man. He just needs to get healthy in body and mind. Southern Louisiana had this kid marked as the next great LSU WR product, and I truly believe it went to his head.

Now this kid Douglas could be the next Jules!
Here’s the negatives on him ….”lean and frail”….he needs to bulk up….. and there will only be one Edelman

Demarco Douglas SCOUTING REPORT: WEAKNESSES

  • His ability to track the ball is good enough, but Douglas sometimes lets the ball get into his body downfield rather than snatching it with his hands.
  • Douglas really isn’t a guy who will create a lot of separation.
  • Lacks ideal size and strength and is a ·mallish target with a lean, frail-looking frame. Can be overmatched at the line of scrimmage when physical !le/enders get their hands on him. Struggles in press coverage and was knocked on his back more than a few times.
