And...they still would have been an upgrade over what they had. Jones is a project that has the tools but people question his heart. Freeland can put on weight and refine technique. Sow was a combine riser. I'm not even mad they drafted guards, I'm annoyed they passed on tackle completely.
Again, what tackles did we miss out on? All the good tackles were gone.

Anyone can put on weight or refine technique, but if you're getting ragdolled by UDFAs it just doesn't speak well.

An upgrade over Rieff, Anderson and Trent Brown?

How do you know that?

Look at the roster. They had people who dressed for games and they had people on the practice squad. The entire line sucked. Difference is that left tackle for a QB is probably more important than a top wideout, yet this team doesn't care about that. They are a Trent Brown injury away from Mac getting sacked 50 times and or getting hurt again.
They had the 11th best OL in the NFL as ranked by PFF, mostly because Onwenu is so good. They aren’t good enough but they aren’t horrible.

They once only had Larry Izzo as a dedicated STer. Now, they have Slater, Schooler, Board and Davis.
If you go back and look and you'll see that they had other dedicated STers then as well. Chris Akins and Je'Rod Cherry were two others. People just didn't recognize it the way we do now.

And they neglected tackle, the most important position for your QB. So yeah its great that the interior was taken care of but the QB consistently gets destroyed and doesn't really have a chance here then you're in this position next year drafting Mac's replacement. Maybe I'm not answering since I've already said it was a revolving door of suck.
You're changing the goalposts.

I asked you to name the guards we had last year because I wanted you to recognize the need for the IOL we drafted.

Now we're on to another conversation entirely.

Everyone wants a tackle. I'm sure Belichick wants one too. He wanted a tackle last year in the 1st round as well. They were all gone by our pick. Skoronski and Paris Johnson were gone this year. Belichick had a Keion White video playing on Day 1 and I'm sure he's seen video of Keion White having his way with Broderick Jones.

The next tackle to go after the early guys was Nick Saldiveri from Old Dominion, a completely raw kid who wouldn't help next year any way

I don't like our draft to this point.

However having said that, other than Jake Andrews, I think they're all good players. I especially like Mafi as a player. I just don't think they were necessarily the right players at the right time, at least in my opinion.

Some of the hysterics on here are a little over the top.
ya think? lol

Well Rieff is ancient and Brown is always hurt...

Heck in 2007 they signed Kelley Washington to play WR and he ended up relegated to ST duty because of the glut of talent there.

We're on the clock

First pick Jones was still on the board. Easily could have taken him today.

Jags took Parker Washington, I liked him.

Are we doing this again?

I asked you to name a guard from last year, you didn't do it.

Now I'm asking you to name the tackle that would've replaced Rieff, Anderson and Trent Brown.

And you still won't name one.

I want a guy like Tyreek Hill. I command Belichick to pick the next Tyreek Hill. He's going to use the Star Trek cloning device to materialize him.

Cole Strange.

Now its your turn. Why wouldn't a 4th rounder have the opportunity to oust Brown Anderson or Rieff given the warts on them?
