The pass defense sucked. No knock on Butler. Butler i have no problems with. I wonder about Logan Ryan in a big spot. We have to be able to play some man coverage without the safety over the top. I had visions of those awful pats defense from 08 to 12

I'm not sure what you're trying to say? If either one of DEN/CIN wins out and NE loses next week, the team who wins out gets the #1 seed.

DEN could have it at 12-4, since they hold the tiebreaker over us.
I misread .Sorry.I thought you said a pats loss and win by either den/cincy next week would mean pats lose HFA.

Just love how the jets are now pumping their chest after needing overtime to beat a decimated patriots team.

Let them be whateva. I got a feeling we will see them again and we better execute better. They always play us tough.

Don't get me wrong guys, IF (HUGE IF) the Jets make the playoffs and then battle to a 3rd matchup vs NE; if healthy, the Pats are easy favorites.

I just wouldn't consider a Jet win crazy.
I mean not as crazy as a team like Houston or Indy going in there and beating us

Actually, I heard someone say on the NFL channel that since the new overtime rules when into effect--where the game continues unless the offense scores a touchdown or the defense scores on the offense's first possession--that the team receiving the ball first wins exactly 50% of the time. So whether you should elect to kick off in overtime depends on the relative strength of the offense and defense of the team you are kicking to and the relative strength of the offense and defense of your own team. In this case, both factors would seem to support the decision to kick off to the Jets here.

You mean to tell me that you are trying to bring real data and logic into a discussion like this....here?? Good luck with that man.

LOL

I know we Pats fans are a spoiled bunch, but it really irks me every time Belichick makes a boneheaded decision and instead of saying: "Yeah, that's my fault. I take the blame on that" he goes ahead and says "We did whats best for the team".....

......How is taking the ball out the hands of the greatest QB "best for the team"? That makes zero sense. The point is to win the game, not give your tired defense more playing time.
Because the defense was playing better than the offense today. It makes perfect sense

The answer to your question is everywhere in this thread if you would actually read what people write. But let me answer this from a different angle. We were 1/10 in 3rd down conversions on our offense and our defense was stopping the Jets for most of the second half. If you want a more in depth answer look into the first few pages of this thread I am too tired to repeat everything again and again.

Just face facts. Its a strategic move like any other strategic move. A good coach looks at the situation and makes a call. Sometimes it works (2013) sometimes it dosent (2015). Not sure why you keep bringing up Tom Brady as he was QB on both teams that did this.

You can tap dance all around this as much as you want. And you can be disappointed as well as am I. But you calling it something it inst dosent mean its whatever you are calling it.

You're making no sense whatsoever.

Face what FACTS? You're not presenting any facts, nor am I. This is an OPINION based conversation.

I think deferring is stupid. Especially when you have the greatest QB of all-time at your disposal. You clearly think the gamble is worth it. That has NOTHING to do with facts or tap dancing around anything.

Because the defense was playing better than the offense today. It makes perfect sense

Deferring in Overtime to give the Jets a chance to WIN the game singlehandedly doesn't make "perfect sense". The defense is good, it's supposed to play well. You still don't provide the other team with a chance to walk out with a win, especially without Brady even touching the ball.

Thin what you want.

Honestly, at home completely healthy... who would you rather meet? Jets or Steelers?

Honestly, I don't even think that bringing up historical statistics is anything more than anecdotal information. Our specific situation with a completely depleted offense and a seemingly well working defense is very specific and I doubt that you will find enough data of teams in a similar situation to make any claims.

I wanted the win. Miami won't lay down. They suck but aanything can happen. It doesn't help that the ol's in bad shape. Who's gonna play? I wanns see an angry and determined team out there

Miami checked out 2 games ago, they can't score points and can't tackle. Oh and unlike Jets, the Phins are not healthy with some key injuries. A dose of Jackson should do.

Well you think they don't wanna finish with a w against us? Be careful. I wanna see whose playing as well.

I get that the offense struggled for most of the game, but they also played pretty well in that fourth quarter.

You win this week and next week means nothing and you can rest starters. Now you have to go out there next week, play hard to win and risk further injury....

Sorry but I can't fathom giving the other team a chance to win when you've got the #1 overall seed and basically two weeks of rest on the line in this game. You can't convince me that it makes sense.

That's absurd. You're basing this on a single game? Ryan has been very good all year long, including against the Jets in the first meeting.

Pats were missing their starting safeties today as well.

So other teams dont want to win against us every week?what is new and why should they lay down? If they lose they lose. But if you cant trust your team to win next week how are you trusting your team to win in the playoffs?
