You don’t have to throw into the endzone there.
You can:
- Throw a screen pass
- Throw a short slant and let the WR run to the endzone
- Throw a quick out and let the WR run to the endzone
- Take advantage of all the DB’s being the endzone and run a reverse

You can't coach scared. Running 3 times at their 20yd at the end of the half is exactly why we're losing so much lately. That's coaching not to lose. You have to show some guts to let the team try to score there. Coaching like a pu**y takes all the confidence out of your team. I hate that decision! So Mac threw a bad pass - you escaped the pick 6. So, he's made a handful of really good passes today too. You're going to have to let the pass game work to win this game. Or win any game going forward.
I don't think Zappe would do any better today. we are missing so many key players today on both sides of the ball. Someone said it earlier. If we cant run it, we are not winning.
This fan base is going to have a tough time during this rebuild. They're the type of crew that wants to win every game even if we end up winning 6-8 games. Lottery picks don't = success but middling around being mediocre is the worst thing you can do.
This might be a good thing as Mac was never gonna be a SB type QB IMO. Instead of having a just above average QB (Tannehill) for the next 10+ years, maybe it's good we see this now so we can start looking for a new QB and not waste any years. We weren't winning many divisions or any SB with Jones.
I suspect this mirror's Nasty Ol' Bill's thinking. He's testing Mac, and Mac's earning a D at best. Mac raw skills are not great. He has to compensate with smarts and toughness. Instead, we're getting a deer in the headlights.
Boomer just made a good point. That hit to macs head was brutal. I thought for sure they would at least check him out. Mac jumped up immediately as he wasn't knocked out, and he knew if he layed their for even a second he'd be pulled. He almost lost his job from the last injury. He's probably concussed.
I mean, we call the Jets the Jete because they've spent a ton of draft picks, high ones too, on a zillion players, and it's gotten them nowhere, so you're right: high picks doesn't mean anything.
Nope but I'd rather be picking up there than not. It's not a given but this team is lacking talent, big time. I mean our best players our Rham, Onwenu, Phillips, Dugger, Harris and ... So we definitely need talent after that little exercise. Now you look at the teams with QB's and most go in the top 15 so it does help.
Again not a instant fix but this team has no business trying to go that route and just floating around between 6-9 wins.
