The Titans end up paying Willams about $8M for one year of service ...
... 15 games, 20 total tackles.

The Colts did a bit better, paying Hankins $10.5M for one year ...
... 15 games, 44 total tackles, 2 sacks, 3 PD.

Agree completely, and while they weren’t huge investments I have little faith that Hill and Clayborn will be more than jags this season. I think Belichick is looking more at trading to fill needs than free agency, and he will use the comp picks to that end.

BB doesn't have an offer on the table for his STs captain. He really is an *******.

Sequence of events in my scenario:
- BB offers Slater (33 yrs old, coming off a season-long hammy issue) 2 yrs, $2.4M APY, with an expiration date on the offer.
- Slater dithers.
- BB sez, "Time's up", and makes the same offer to Ebner.
- Ebner signs.
- Bademosi signs elsewhere for$1.5M more than Ebner's deal.
- McCray signs for Bademosi money someplace else.

At what point does BB make another offer to Slater and for how much?

S/T guys are many but few as decent as Slater. That being said, if he is looking for Bademosi deal, parting makes sense at 33. All things come to an end. Easier to replace him versus Solder.

Two Tackles that might be trade bate but both had medicals now cleared. Both young:

David Quessenberry-Houston

Jake Fisher-Cinn.

Or we go the Draft route. Solder played RT to start his rookie year but played day 1.

Mississippi State left tackle Martinas Rankin and Texas Conner Williams are probably the only two that are NFL play ready.

Many will be good and rated higher futures, but still projects. Williams round 1. Rankin....Round 2.

Love Slater but just dont see the game impact the last couple years....sorry just how I see it.

HUH? Slater is still one of the best there is..
I wouldn't be surprised if he decided that this is going to be his last contract so he went out to see what was available and has a standing offer with the Pats for right of first refusal. That's what the Pats did with Hightower. That's what they've done in the past with other players.. Why do people think it would be any different?

Is Kenny Vaccaro still alive? No visits, no rumors, no nothing. Kinda odd.

I am sure his camp was waiting for Mathieu to set the market but then were not happy with where he set it.

I agree about Clayborn. I think he will be factor.

With Hill I am not sure he will survive camp until I actually see his contract details (and the amount of guaranteed money). I certainly hope he is on the roster because that means he is on a good trajectory.. but not holding my breath with this one...

I dont think you remember 2011 particularly well, Cousin. The only reason for Solder to sniff the field initially were injuries to Vollmer. So saying he started might be technically correct but it was not by choice.

What ST players showed impact to you ? Just out of curiousity.. am really interested how you evaluate ST players and their "impact"..

I’m hoping Clayborn can contribute something as part of the rotation, but I don’t think we will see a big contribution from him overall. I’d like to see a young back displace both Gillislee and Hill. If we get really lucky maybe Clayborn can have Andre Carter career resurgence.

LT- Greg Robinson might be worth a gamble. Former top 5 pick in 2014. Maybe Scar could work some magic.

Hard to say what Clayborn's role/usage might be like with the Pats.

In ATL the past three seasons, he's played about 50% of the D-snaps (~ 550 snap/yr avg), rotating with (or playing opposite of) Reed, McKinley (2017), Freeney, Jackson & Reed (2016), Beasley, Bierman and Jackson (2015), and at least 1-2 other low-usage reserves, generally getting more snaps than any of the others.

With the Pats, he'll probably be competing for snaps with Wise (543 snaps, 51%), Guy (582 snaps, 55%), maybe Adam Butler (473 snaps, 45%), and possibly Flowers (802 snaps, 76%).

As long as he can consistently set the edge and get some pressure when he's on the field, I'm good.
