Look…the DL and OL always come 1st. This is where the game gets played…Im a big believer in that. And if you don’t have a starting QB…none of that matters. You draft a QB in the top 15 10 times out of 10 if you don’t have a starter. Why don't I agree with you in regards to not getitng Higgins = Failure. Because you have no idea what the Bengals are asking for him. If they want a 2nd round pick, then no, it's not a failure. I'd rather have the pick for an OT. You know. A position that would have a significant improvement on the play of the offense by allowing the QB to throw the ball or the RBs to gain more than 2 yards and a cloud of dust.
Teams have to be built from the Lines out.. It's all well and good to want to add a QB, but if you can't protect him, you will destroy him. We've seen it time and again in the NFL. How many QBs have won the SB taking 40-50 sacks going into the play-offs?
The Pats can still get a top notch WR and a LT in the draft. That's why I'm not on the Tyron Smith Bandwagon unless it's a prove it deal and they still draft an OT to develop to take over. A LT who is likely to miss 9 game out of 17 isn't one I want to invest a ton of money into. And I don't see the point of adding a QB if we're not protecting him with quality up front.
Building through the draft only I think is a mistake to fill your most important positions if you currently don’t have a high level of talent at these types of positions.
I like how GB built their teams through drafting but you don’t get to that point with only drafting.
