The secondary was a weak link during those years with the turnover of players and switching McCourty over to S because he was bad at CB and Chung was injured. They allowed 3 TD's to Sanchez in 2010 divisional game. They couldn't stop Manning when it counted in the 2011 Super Bowl where they barely escaped Flacco and the Ravens two weeks prior. They got exposed again in 2012 with Flacco tossing 3 TD's after Talib (who they traded for because of how weak they were) got injured and in 2013 allowing 400 yards.

You can point to your stats all you want, but they drafted 12 DB's during that time, traded for Talib in 2012 and signed Revis and Browner for a reason in 2014.
I don’t think pointing out that we fielded a team with weaknesses at certain positions is a ground breaking realization, but it is certainly one you love making over and over again.

Also losses to the Giants were definitely not on the defense.

Results are what matters.
You are defining bad years as what happened in conference championship games and sbs.

Stop with the silly excuses. Bill has always made the roster decisions and Jones is a perfect example of one of his picks. He came from his pal Saban.
Of course everyone remembers the great glee and fanfare when Jones was picked by both the fans and the press.
Like so many QB's chosen in '21 he crapped the bed big time.. Zach Wilson(2), Trey Lance(3), Fields(11) and Jones(15) all pretty much suck.

And Lawrence isn’t exactly setting the world on fire as a “can’t miss generational stud”

To be clear. No one is rooting for the Patriots to lose in quarter 2 of game 1 here.

It's been a miserable 3 months and the table is already set. Why spoil the dinner at serving time?

I don't tell anyone how to be a "fan" so I'm not sure why so many people are disgusted by a rather innocuous take.
I did not call anyone out.
Just giving my beliefs
So truthfully your disgust of my post is telling me how to be a fan
Merry Christmas

But, it’s almost none. Not some.

I’ve got 7 out of 221 in the last 25 years

Brady, Hurts, Carr taken at the 36th pick, Prescott, Purdy, Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson.

Your chances of success are under 3%

When you look at the #s you should only draft for backups after the 1st round and you should never take a QB in the 2nd or 3rd
So do I correctly understand you’re saying there were 221 QB picks after the first round in the past 25 years? And you count 7 of them as successes?

so my questions are, how many QBs were chosen in the first round over that same period? How many of them were successes and how many busted?

Perfect example of the inflated expectations and even a sense of entitlement some folks around here display.

Last playoff game was two years ago, and we already have posts whining about prolonged mediocrity!

I have been a Pats fan since I bought season tickets for the first Boston Patriots season for their first game as a team in September 1960. I have been a "Trust in Bill" fan since Kraft hired him. I am still a BB fan. I am still a Pats fan. I am not a Bob Kraft fan.

Bill is cheap. Kraft is cheaper. Bill has made mistakes with player selections. That happens when you try to do it all: Controlling.

Regardless of the final numbers. I hope Bill leaves the Pats for a winning team
Bill, at 72, doesn't need to be rebuilding a new Pats Team. He needs a team that can produce wins next season without the tons of stress.

Best wishes, BB, stay healthy; rebuilding the Pats won't be good for your health, Bill. **** Kraft and his son, Jonathan
BTW before you leave Bill, FIRE Trent Brown. He was never good for the Pats, He had Attitude problems.

Drew Brees says hi.

Schaub, Fitzpatrick, Cassel, even karpernick, geno smith, jimmy g, minshew and others have been more successful than at least half the first rounders.

Remind me…how did the Patriots acquire Brady again? Were they just gifted him? Hmm, I wonder if there was a guy in our organization who saw his talent and drafted him. Hmmmmm
Brady was born the GOAT … he played qb , wr, ot, safety , corner and even was an extremely gifted runner … actually he is to be inducted into the hall of fame as the only player ever going in at 4 different positions. Bill was picking groceries before Brady saw him one day and felt sorry for him. Brady made Bill… true story

I didn’t make that hilarious prediction chief that was yours. I’m only mocking it over and over again, and rightfully so.
Moron of the year

Yes that’s correct. A lot of 1st rounders busted but not nearly at the same rate. For instance in the last 7 years it’s 10 out of 16 who busted

You have to understand though that there are a lot of guys who are huge reaches like EJ Manuel, JP Losman, people who know one else rates as 2nd or 3rd, who somehow end up in the 1st

Like picking Penix in the 1st. Huge stretch

I think your comprehension of my post needs some work. Never said you did.

Didn't try to but responded with what I did when you gave it all to TB. BTW, I love TB but I played the sport and even the assistant coaches get a piece of the credit. TB does nothing at all without the rest of the team.....even in Tampa.

Brady was fine without Bill. He didn't need him.

Bill can't say the same.

Eh… the GOAT himself called BB the best in the history of the game. If the GOAT said it then it’s good enough for me. The perfect partnership.

It's nothing new for Brady to be the diplomat of the two.

Theres nothing to debate here.

One guy was winning Superbowls while the other guy has a track record it hardly reaching .500.

No one is writing off Brady, clown; I doubt there is a single poster on here who doesn’t consider Brady the greatest of all-time. At the same time, football is a team sport and it’s completely fine and normal to acknowledge other individual’s played a role in the Patriots’ success, along with Brady. It’s not an either-or situation.

You're pretty dense. Starting your response off by calling me a clown shows your inability to be a mature and respectful person.

That's on top of your atrocious take.

As bill would say. Do better.
