At 143, if he’s still on our board is it a huge gamble to snag hurst?

We should have tried to get a first rounder for 2019 with that 43 pick if it wasn't used.

Draftniks get plenty of picks to fantasise about for next year which will ultimately be a fruitless exercise. I don’t mind the moves B.B. has made, but man, being a Patriots draftnik is not a fun endeavour.

I repeat my statement from yesterday: for Pats fans, the draft is Hanukkah and Yom Kippur all rolled into one.

Can’t say I disagree with him. If you’re looking for defense like the pats should be, this is a pretty underwhelming draft class.
I'm sorry this is very revisionist. This was considered to be one of the most stacked linebacker classes in recent memory and we had a shot at one of the best corners in the draft at 23 if we didn't want that. We also easily could have moved up and got Landry as well if we really wanted him (he was two picks in front of us).

This class had talent on defense and the Pats had the ability to get at least one potential impact player and they passed. They did a masterful job in the first round putting to bed any offensive questions. But they could have gotten something good on defense.

I feel like people are underselling the class after the fact to feel better about it.

Who’s to say we didn’t? Gotta have a dance partner willing to deal a 1. Prob took the best deal we were offered

Possible picks I would like if B.B. actually makes a pick:

Trenton Thompson DT, Georgia huge upside didn’t play to his potential in college.

Bo Scarbrough RB Alabama, the return of BLOUNT force trauma

And of course, Equanmenious

Well we could wheel and deal for someone's defensive player on another roster. We will see.

It wasn’t a deep linebacker class though, there were four guys at the top all of whom went before we picked. It wa also a poor pass rushing class.

You guys have missed the obvious strategy. Bill is going to continue trading picks that were derived from the Jimmy G Rd. 2 pick into the next year until the day he retires. That way if anyone asks him "were you happy with what you got for Jimmy G" he can legitimately say "that's not done yet, we'll address how we did with that once it's complete."

Are we trading all these picks to acquire Paul Blake aka scott bakula?

lol this is just sad

Last night and this morning people who were disappointed with the draft not addressing needs on defense were met with a chours of “the draft isn’t over! Plenty of good players have fallen to the 4th where the Pats always pick well.”

Now 2 hours later with the Pats trading out of the 4th entirely its “Bill must not have liked the talent still on the board, smart to trade out and stock up for next years instead.”

Bill can’t do anything wrong.
