Pats limit Miami to 8 first downs and a miniscule 88 yards of total offense.
That is not a misprint.
Incredibly that is not a franchise record.
In 1988 the Pats defense allowed only 65 yards in a game against Seattle, and in 1977 the Colts managed just 86 yards vs the Patriots.

Vinatieri kicks four field goals, Pats pick off four Buffalo passes.
A blowout loss to Denver showed the New England Patriots that they aren't the best team in the AFC. An equally decisive victory over Buffalo reminded them that they don't have far to go. With their AFC East lead at stake, the Patriots turned back Buffalo 33-6 Sunday to distance themselves...

Each one is a player involved in personnel decisions that did not work out at all for the Patriots.
Kim Hammond (1944-2017)
Most well-known for being part of the package the Patriots received in the extremely ill-advised trade that sent Nick Buoniconti to the Miami Dolphins. Hammond only lasted two seasons, as the backup QB to Mike Taliaferro in '69 and third-string QB behind Joe Kapp in '70.
The former Seminole returned to Florida State, using his pro football earnings to pay for tuition to finish law school. He passed the bar, retired from pro football, and worked his way up to being a principal in a law firm. Several years later Hammond was apointed to be a circuit judge in northeastern Florida, where he remained for 31 years.
Garrett Mills, 41 (1983)
4th round (106th overall) selection in the 2006 draft, from Tulsa
TE/FB never saw the playing field for the Patriots. He was placed on IR on November 14, 2006 with a thigh injury, and was let go on September 1, 2007. The Vikings claimed him off waivers.
That set off a bit of drama. Bill Belichick had asked Brad Childress to not claim Mills, and in return the Pats would not claim a player the Vikings wanted to re-sign afte cuts to their practice squad. Childress ignored the request, and bad blood between the two would remain for several years - re-igniting when Childress took a premature victory lap when Randy Moss was traded to Minnesota. Moss lasted less than a month, costing Childress his job.
All that over a draft bust who played a total of 17 games in the NFL.
Brad Childress opened up on a radio interview last weekend. And Childress revealed an apparently tense conversation he had with Bill Belichick about a couple of players each team wanted to pass through waivers and put on the practice squad.

Karl Singer, 80 (1943)
1st round (3rd overall) selection in the 1966 AFL draft, from Purdue
This arguably represents the biggest draft bust in the 65 year history of the franchise. The right tackle made a total of eight starts over three seasons, unable to crack the starting lineup on three bad teams that were in dire need of decent help on the offensive line.
Adrian Wilson, 45 (1979)
Signed as a veteran free agent to a 3-year contract on March 16, 2013
Even though the strong safety was 33 years old at the time, I was excited when the Pats signed the five-time Cardinals Pro Bowler. Unfortunately we never got to see him play. He was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury on August 31, 2013 and was released the following April.
Wilson returned to Arizona after he retired, employed as a scout in 2016. He worked his way up the ladder to director of pro scouting, VP of pro personnel, and since 2023 has been the VP of player personnel for the Cardinals.
