NYT: Impact of Deflategate on Brady's ad market appeal

Does Tom E. Curran write for the Times now? Because I get his Twitter feed when I click on your link.

Not that it surprises me... heck, nothing does these days.

Interesting to note that while Brady's brand is down, his name recognition is at an all time high. He's been in the news every day. Should he "survive" this and maybe some people in the NFL gets fired, his appeal might be even greater than before.

That's strange, it does. Fixed it.

As the truth has trickled out, I expect that the final history will say that Brady was railroaded by a corrupt clique running a multi-billion dollar industry - and survived! He will be the man who stood up to power, money, and corruption and took them down. The value to a future political career is immeasurably large, imho.

It's a story that plays across the political spectrum. On the right, it's the individual standing up for truth, justice, and the American way. On the left, it's a story of a union employee getting railroaded by management and fighting back to take them down and rebalance the power relationship between management and labor.

I'm sure that the whole thing has been a bad experience and Brady has suffered some short term setbacks, but the path has been paved for him to catapult beyond the NFL with a really compelling story.

I would think this backs up his potential defamation case?

Malicious use of process, too. For that you need to show there was no probable cause to start the investigation, it was pursued with malice and that damages were inflicted.

@JJC: Brady had said he no longer really wants to go into politics.

Can't rule it out, but it's not a priority for him.

Brady would be a fool not to sue for defamation. Get Goody Goodell and gang green out of office.

@ctpatsfan77 - well, we now know he has at least another 7-8 years of football ahead of him, so things could change again

So many people say that there is no such thing as bad publicity. Those people are ******s.

But there was no process. They just made something up at each step along the way.
