A little something from Japan College Football (which I honestly didn't even know existed). The QB takes one pretty late and will miss about a month.

Word is the Cincinnati Bengals have added the defensive player to their draft board.

Haha wow pretty dirty... thats where they need to start suspending the players that injure others with such egregious unsportsmanlike hits for as long as the injured player takes to recover and return to the field

You cheap shot someone like that and they miss 9 months to an ACL then your season should be over too

Guys, no need to bring WW2 into this...

Well, since someone else started it...

The QB will probably kill that defender's entire family to "get even."

How'd you find this and do you know how the offending player was punished?

Regards,
Chris

Are these players Japanese? Or Americans playing on Japanese soil?

They're Japanese.

During a May 6 game, Nihon University defensive lineman Taisuke Miyagawa launched himself into the back of Kwansei Gakuin University quarterback Kosei Okuno well after he had thrown a pass, resulting in knee and spinal-ligament injuries that will sideline the quarterback for three weeks, Agence France-Presse reported.

American Football is actually pretty popular in Japan which is surprising considering there are no Japanese born players in the NFL. More popular than in a lot of European countries I believe

Probably a big reason is the strong American cultural influence that is entrenched there.

That being said there are almost NFL fans in Mexico and Brazil then perhaps the rest of the world combined outside of the US. Maybe instead of trying to get a team in Europe a team in south America would make more sense. Those countries do have enough well off people to afford tickets.

To fair to the guy, he plays to the whistle. He was locked in and was not sure if the ball had been released. You can't let up in case it is a trick play. :p
BTW, he has quit the spots and he sounds very depressed. He blamed it on the coach and the coach has also resigned. I worry for the kid, especially in Japanese culture.

I love this:

First play of the game. Yeah, like the coach didn't pull him aside and do this:

No wonder the coach stepped down. Obvious intent to injure is obvious.

Regards,
Chris

There was a pretty decent (and very popular) manga called eyeshield 21 that is about American Football in the late 90s early 2000s. It helped the popularity of AF immensily, over there
