...why all you guys were saying things like "16-0 is a real possibility" in the preseason. Tonight's threads have that same unrealistic look to them. Do you guys really think "the streak" is going to repeat itself over and over? You win games. You lose games. You have issues, you face them, you overcome them. That's the real hallmark of the Pats over these last few years, not the coincidental fact that we went 21 games at one point without losing.

Gentlemen, we lost (again) to Denver. We lose to Denver a lot. This is lost on nobody, I am sure.

And yes, the Pats looked pretty bad tonight. I saw a lot of drops, a lot of times both offense and defense had to come up big, and didn't, and yes, that "appearance" of being "flat" that Madden was yammering about.

Now then -- all you guys kicking the FO in the nuts, all you guys saying how we're putting Brady out there with nothing to work with, etcetera etcetera etcetera... this is week bloody three.

We played a bad game. The chemistry is not there with the receivers, when they get open, and we seem to have a case of the Seattle Dropsies circa 2004.

Still drinking the kool-aid here. Yep, two blocked field goals in consecutive weeks -- which some will say is Gost's fault. Yep, problems punching the ball into the end zone. Yep, we still have a D that can be beat for (ahem) 17 points (more, in previous weeks.)

The FO is, however, locking up it's best weapons for long periods of time, drafting better than anybody in the league, and generally running the shop as it should be run.

Right now, we're not the best team in the league, obviously. The question is whether we can be by season's end.

One last thing... it's upsetting to Brady to lose his accustomed connections? I know he's watched guys come and go, and I know he's trying to tough it out. I even know that there may be a period of "mourning" in which he's not quite himself. But he's not hanging up the cleats for 2006, regardless of what anybody here or in the press says.

NEWS FLASH: New England is winning this division, and WILL win the division crown.

So by all means talk about everything that must get better... but let's remember that track record that usually keeps us a little more in line than say, Redskins fans.

The Pats know what they're doing. Right now, they're just not doing it that well.

Thanks,

PFnV

No, PFnV, thank you. Its so nice to have some fans get it. This was not the Super Bowl. This was game 3. There are many more games. We are not in last place. People need to get a grip.

Bravo. Newbies, take note of this post, the schedule and your no-doubt stained underwear. Relax. Criticism is fine. Baseless ninny-embodiment? Not so much.

I like the post.

Unlike some, you can actually admit the team has some real problems it must face and hopefully overcome (no gaurantees) and that is indeed part of the journey of the season.

I'd like to see Troy and Caldwell as the 3rd and 4th receivers.

How can you judge our offense until then?
