N'Keal Harry's Production

He has five more tune up games left before we will really need him to have three monster games!

2 bad drops. No separation or YAC ability shown. Wasn’t impressed. Looks like a big plodder who can occasionally win jump balls in end zone...hope he shows me more in the open field next week...

Here was one scouting report pre draft

“Team sources say that Harry is not real twitchy or explosive. They worry about how he is not fast in and out of breaks and don't see suddenness. Some sources said that Harry reminded them of Ole Miss wideout Laquon Treadwell, who is currently headed toward bust status for the Vikings. Some other sources say they are grading Harry on the second day of the 2019 NFL Draft and feel he is akin to Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Devin Funchess. One team source said they originally planned on grading Harry in Round 2, but were lowering him to the third round. “

Unfortunately I saw a lot of this yesterday. No acceleration or separation which means his ability to use he whole field will be limited and his YAC ability won’t be good. His 2 bad drops were discouraging because with his playing style of being very slow, he needs to have elite hands.

did see some positives....great body control, knows how to play big, and is definitely very strong and physical.

Let’s see what happens moving forward...

The best yards after catch player I have ever seen in a pats uniform was Aaron H. No one in the NFL could do that stop and go move like him.

Would love to find a similar player of his playing style for this offense...acceleration and YAC

Second Full Game NG love the back-shoulder TD catch in tough conditions Draft bio calls Harry back-shoulder general. I think a player like Harry would benefit from play action courtesy of a decent running game. Harry is not going to run by many DB's but he's suppose leap over them and make those Tough contested catches. Kid's learning on the fly love seeing Brady with young guys finally. Meyers is quite a find and will be a solid #3 WR in this League.

Agreed.
I can't speak to separation as the all 22 film might prove or disprove. But he had 3 possible catches go into his hands based on size and ability (unfortunately he dropped 2 but that could be attributed to bad conditions). Not sure how someone can dismiss something like that, something we haven't seen in a Pats WR in a while. If Harry can hold onto 2 out of every 3 of those type passes (throw it high and hard, Harry will out jump and out muscle) that's a BFD ability. Patriots have plenty of smaller-get open guys. A Harry type (IF he can hold onto the ball) is a needed add this year with suck TE limitations.

That TD grab was a sure sign of blessed things to come.

keep in mind that some of the fast "twitch" stuff can be improved upon... He's clearly got athleticism, hands, height, and strength. Let the Strength and Conditioning guys do their job and if he can gain a split second or two of quickness it'll make the world of difference.

Getting open is kind of important for the WR position...

Oronde Gadsden was the same size as Harry and twice as slow. Before getting hurt he was a very productive player even though he was always covered. A better Oronde Gadsden seems attainable for Harry and would be a big deal for this offense. Only question is when.

Let's give Keal a few more games before we crap on him.

It's pointless to evaluate a rookie WR after 2 games off IR. Lets see after 2-3 years but right now it doesn't say anything, especially considering you play with a QB whose play has significantly dropped off.

But to your point, his YAC ability is good.

Anyone regret the Pats not taking Deebo Samuel?

6.89 in the three cone without preparing for it. At nearly 6'4" and 225 pounds. He's playing slow because he's still thinking on the field. This isn't Seattle, where the route tree makes the Charlie Brown Christmas tree look like a Sequoia.

Getting open is kind of important for the WR position...

He was open on the sideline pass he dropped, besides that he was tightly covered on his other targets, which, considering his size shouldn’t be an issue as long as he fights for those contested catches, which was his skill set in college.
