Thanks. Although the longer I am here, the less value I see in wasting my time reading many of the opinions that show up here.Glad to see you back, AJ....

I'm staying OUT of the game thread tonight because even when we're winning it's hyperbolically negative

Not really. Summing it up is that the Patriots first half of this season is remarkably similar to the first half of last season, which turned into a #1 seed and a home playoff game, that unfortunately did not work out.
I would be happy with that chance each season.
Or are you telling me winning the division, having a #1 seed and playing at home throughout is useless because once the Patriots had that and lost?
No, what I'm saying is that we all know its a "what have you done for me lately" league. We cant assume 1 game, you assume 8!
There would? You base your 'angst' in a playoff loss on how many regular season wins the team had? That strikes me as bizarre. It certainly had nothing to do with my comments. If we went 12-4 not 14-2 (basically repeating the 6-2 start) there would be alot less angst about losing the first round playoff game.
Do you read well? This is exactly the bs that I was talking about. Last years team played very similarly on defense the first half, and improved drastically in the second half. You just said the defensive problems will be magnified in the second half when we faced a weaker schedule.Playing well sets certain expectations, playing poorly does the exact same thing. We arent losing by 1 play here or there and we arent blowing out teams either. The cumulative affect of poor Defensive play will only be magnified in the 2nd half of the season especially by the more talented and better coached teams. There are more of those every year.....
Yeah, I'm a bandwagon fan since 1974.
Everything uo just posted is entirely incorrect about me, and about why I stayed away from this forum this week.
See, I didn't stay away from being a Patriots fan, I stayed away from reading the ridiculous overreactions of a group of people who chose to post on this board that feel they are entitled and are perfectly willing to trash the greatest HC/QB combo of all time, for the sin of being 5-3 and tied for first place.
I have absolutely no problem discussing the strengths, weaknesses, flaws, propsects or concerns about this team right up until the point that it turns into a moronic series of comments that would appropriately be directed at the Bucs circa 1978.
I did not leave the Patriots. I left the message board, because there are a number of people who dominate it with stupid opinions that serve me no purpose other than plssing me off.
If the negaitve posters on this board were indicative of all Patriot fans that would not make me a fairweather fan, it would make me an ardent died in the wool fan who despises fair weather fans.
Sorry if you think you need to measure your fandom by your association with idiots who call themselves fans.
This. I avoid gameday threads here. Lurking in the Jets game threads is more entertaining for these games anyways. Every incompletion is blamed on Schotty and every completion brings up a debate about how Sanchez is a legitimate qb.

Right because it is playing almost identically to last seasons defense that played really well in the 2nd half.
Please. "Played really well" - not really hard to do when your offense is scoring 40 (37.25 PPG avg over last 8 games) points a game.
So the defense didn't play well the second half of last year?
You said really well my friend. The real question is how much did they benefit from the Pats offense averaging 40 points a game? How would they have performed if the Pats averaged, say, 20 points per game?
No the question is how they played. The diversion from answering is creating a ficticious situation and pretending it would change things.
So what you are saying is they are free to say whatever they want, but I am not?Broken record homer speak here.
They aren't criticizing the greatest HC/QB combo of all time they are criticizing poor performance. Simple. They are entitled, they are fans. The consumer, you know.... the life blood of the billion dollar industry that is pro football. No one has to apologize for making observations about the team they root for and support no matter what past performance indicated. There will be plenty of time to wax poetic about Brady and BB when they are done. But currently they are in the middle of a season in which several questionable personnel decisions this season and the last few have come back to haunt us. As fans we don't have to kiss BB's a*s and bite our tongue on a forum because some of us may have thought James sanders should've been kept as depth or that Brady should be more judicious with the football, or that BB has whiffed on too many DB's etc.
If you feel like your skin isn't thick enough to hear about flaws with the team I get it, but don't berate other fans as bandwagoners or not worthy because they want the team to be better. Maybe burying their heads in the sand or trying to find a justification for every negative happening the team has isn't their way. You have somehow made Brady throwing a career high in INT's a good thing. Whether you blame Brady or the play calling, the WR talent or lack thereof or the inability to sustain the run. But..... It isn't a positive. I just don't know what to tell you man. It's a waste. This team can still win a SB but things have to change on both sides of the ball in some key areas. Coaching and execution needs to improve please at least acknowledge that much.
That is NOT the point you made, and you know that, which is why you are now changing it.Dude what's wrong with you? I made a simple point that you need to be cautious when evaluating a defense that plays with huge leads.
Please explain why when 2 people disagree and do not move from their point of view, you the arbiter of which is being stubborn? Why can't you concede such an obvious point? Don't you see why you're detested by many on this board? Winning every argument should not be your only reason to post. Make concessions, you'll live longer.
That is not what I said. And please lose the "if you don't praise all things Pats go root for the Jets" schtick - it's realy boring.
I never said that either. And also lose the "most posters make me want to vomit" schtick (or at the very least acknowledge the irony of such comments).
That is NOT the point you made, and you know that, which is why you are now changing it.
I'm not your pal, keep twisting your comments, maybe someone else will fall for it. I'm done. That is NOT the point you made, and you know that, which is why you are now changing it.
Listen pal, it was the point I was making. Where we differed is that you said the Pats defense was playing "really well" the second half of last year. I disagreed, and suggested that playing with the lead may have made them look better than they actually were. THAT WAS WHAT I SAID & THAT WAS MY POINT. If you want to subscribe to me that I don't think the Patriots defense last year was "really good" that's fine, because I don't. Subscribing anything else is just you being you.
I'm not your pal, keep twisting your comments, maybe someone else will fall for it. I'm done.
So what you are saying is they are free to say whatever they want, but I am not?
No. But it seems you take offense when people don't share your point of view especially when it comes to some of the moves BB makes. We all know he has forgotten more about the game than we ever will know but the man isn't infallible. No?
There are a few Jet's fans in the forum some out right some covert but for the most part we all want the Pats to win. Old timers and young bucks alike. No need to try an pull rank because you've been around longer. I respect all the old time pats fans because they suffered through some bad teams and have great stories but it shouldn't be hung over the rest of us to make us feel like inferior fans. That just divides us further.
just my .002

Would you like to explain how #3 in points allowed, at just 15.6 per game,.#8 in rushing yards, and an opponent passer rating of 67.6, with the 2nd most sacks in the NFL is not really good defense?I twisted nothing and you know it (as, no doubt, you would specifically lay out my "twist"). You ending with an whimper, pal, is good enough for me. Enjoy the game.
