Nice article on Marcus Pollard

He's a solid player. Floating cartilage? That would just be arthroscopic I think.

With all the drafts and pickups, I don't think I've felt solid about the TE position since Coates. Let's hope injury free Watson and Thomas change that.

I hope Marcus is all I think he could be linked up with Brady.
If he stays healthy I think there's a good chance. Tom seems to think so.

When I got over the shock of a picture of a white guy with a Peyton Manning hairline, I thought this was a really nice article. Thanks for posting.

("Yes, but will it play in Peoria?" -- you don't know how long I've been waiting for a chance to write that.)

I keep forgetting about Pollard. Hope he can make a solid contribution this year.

The Evil Empire. I guess that's how it's playing in Peoria. I kind of
like it.

When I think of Marcus I remember how he and manning use to pick on
Roman. They got him on several plays.

I would have no problem having him as a number 3. As for a number 4 (if they carry one) I kinda like Stupar better than Spach. Thoughts?

Obviously I hope he works out, but can't shake the early Reiss camp review of Pollard looking like a guy who has totally lost it. Maybe it was a bad day and he was still not fully recovered.

My guess, though I hope I'm wrong, Marcus Pollard = Chad Brown.

I tend to agree with your assessment. At 37 years of age and what I saw of him in Seattle last year I do not even expect a full season out of him.

Well, even if he is, this article shows me that he is a good guy.

He is coming in with the right attitude: learning to relate to his new team-mates without disrespecting old ones. He'll do his best to make the team and, if it doesn't work out, no hard feelings. What's more, he deserves credit for the way that he has handled himself and developed his career (and, although it grates to admit it, so do the Colts for spotting his potential and giving him the opportunity).

He won't make it onto the final 53. He was awful last year. I hope that was because of injuries but his age and wear and tear aren't going to help him either. TE's in the Pats system are required to be physical. They dish out and take a beating. Ask Watson and Thomas. His experience will help him and the younger guys though.

I forgot about him too! Nice interview- he's got exactly the right attitude.
Plus it's cool he used to be a Colt:singing:

"Belichick told Pollard he was looking for experience, a leader who still had something to offer on the field but could help groom younger players for the future. "A perfect fit for me," Pollard says. He signed a one-year contract for a reported $830,000, but with no guarantees he'll even make the cut when the season begins in September.

"I wouldn't have it any other way," Pollard says.

Remember, this is a guy who has fought for everything. He never played college football, opting instead for a basketball career. Bradley signed him out of Seward County Community College in Kansas, in 1992, and the fans here still revere him as a captain who led the Braves out of a five-year abyss to a 23-win season and the NIT quarterfinals in 1994.

"Tom Brady (the All-Pro quarterback) came up to me and said, 'You're going to help us so much. We're glad you're here,'" Pollard says."
