One team went and got a high quality desirable GM and a respected HC, got aggressive in free agency and drafted well.

The other team just promoted a dude who was here already to GM and promoted a positional coach with very little coaching experience in his entire life that barely anyone knows to HC, and did jack squat in free agency partially due to the hiring decisions, and then didn’t draft well.

Shocker! One team improved a lot, made the playoffs and won at least 1 playoff game; the other team didn’t improve at all

What? Washington drafted well and the Pats didn't? Based on what?
People see a winning record and just assume they drafted well yet their draft was not any better than the Patriots. They both had an average draft but if Drake Maye ends up with a better career than Daniels then the Washington draft was worse.

They got Daniels and Sainristril as regular good contributors and they had 3 second round picks in a deep draft. Sinnott didn't even play in the playoff game, Newton has played meaningful snaps, not generally a starter, but has a 51 Rating on PFF.

Statistically, the Patriots, outside the 2022 draft, have been above average drafters since and including 2021. With the 2022 draft they are only under the expected success rate on first round picks. The rest of the draft they are still average or above. The 2022 draft was really a killer for them though,

Fair, I suppose you could say “drafted fine”. The Pats got almost nothing out of their draft besides Maye but you may be able to pin that lack of output on coaching. We will see

You eliminate the horrible draft year, use two players from 2021 (and I don't think Stevenson is even a good RB with all his issues), and give 2024 a pass because of one player.

The Pats have been no where near average drafters during the past four years.

Not disagreeing. Chris Jones is actually one of my favorite players in the league. Previously, I gave Houston zero shot, but if their D line can have another A game, they have a chance.

Their time was last year and they didn't do **** I'm not convinced by neither Buffalo or the aratbirds

Admittedly we know the stripes won't be on Buffalo's or Baltimore's side. That's a challenge to overcome.

An average draft IMO is 2 starters and one other contributor.

You can make the stats mean whatever you want. but the fact is this is not a black and white issue that can be statistically answered unless you are placing human scoring. For example it's different if you picked 3rd or 32nd. Or if you hit on a QB/OT/starting WR/outside CB/DE instead of a kicker/RB/slot corner/OG/#3 WR. Or it matters if you multiple times left on the table, the #1 WR the team has been searching for years for, to take a compete JAG.

For example, I would give them credit and consider drafting Mac Jones the right move because they desperately needed a QB, and Bill wasn't wasting anything moving up for all those JAGS.

Other than that and a few adequate others (there's no Puka here), yes they have hit on a few big top round picks these last four years, and that's it. If you say that's all to make them average; OK.

But if we're talking how they really did in real life with the opportunities that were presented to them, beyond the top picks they were well below average. I don't care what your analytics say.
