NFL Week 2 Odds, TV Info and Predictions

John Morgan

After an insipid Thursday night abomination, the rest of NFL week two gets underway on Sunday. The Patriots at New Orleans highlights the early games, in a matchup featuring a pair of future Hall of Fame quarterbacks. Dallas at Denver is the best late afternoon game, unless you enjoy watching the Jete getting pounded at Oakland. The best game of the week comes on Sunday night with Green Bay at Atlanta in a rematch of last season’s NFC championship. Week two wraps up with Detroit at the Giants on Monday night.

Some first half updates:

Bucs 10, Bears 0
Jameis Winston with a nice back shoulder pass to Mike Evans for a TD. Came one play after Chicago's second turnover. Former Buc Mike Glennon 7/8, but with a pick. Neither team can run the ball (1.7 ypc and 2.0 ypc)

Steelers 14, Vikings 0
Case Keenum averaging 0.8 yards per pass with Sam Bradford out.
First Downs: Pittsburgh 8, Minnesota 1

Eagles 3, Chiefs 3
Alex Smith overthrew an open Tyreek Hill on what would have been a TD.
Philly defense has contained RB Kareem Hunt (4 carries for 6 yards).

More from the first half:

Colts 10, Arizona 0
Indy stops the Cardinals on 4th and goal from the 1 yard line.
Brissett 6/11 for 64 yards, mostly to TE Jack Doyle (3 receptions, 34 yards).
Arizona has no offense without David Johnson; consecutive 3-and-outs.

Panthers 3, Bills 0
Tyrod Taylor 5/6, but for only 15 yards.
Two teams have combined for 5 punts already.

Ravens 14, Browns 0
Ben Watson (4 receptions on 4 targets, for 61 yards) is Baltimore's leading receiver
Flacco: 10/12, 107 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
Kizer: 6/11, 81 yards, 1 INT
Browns: 1/5 on third down

Titans 3, Jaguars 3
Five punts between the two teams, plus one turnover.
Mariotta: 5/11, 36 yards, 1 INT
Bortles: 3/8, 25 yards

Bucs now lead Chicago 17-0.
Bears are 4/5 on third down, but three turnovers are killing them.

Buffalo was called for an unsportsmanlike penalty on the sideline, then side judge James Coleman was knocked over. He was looked at by the trainers but remained in the game. Sure we will hear more about that later.

Deshone Kiser left the game with a migraine... poor Browns haha

Colts 10, Cardinals 3 (Halftime)
Arizona had seven plays in the red zone and could not score a TD. One pass went through the TE's hands and a would-be catch was overturned. Can't imagine how bad they will be when they face a real defense.

Bucs 26, Bears 0 (Halftime)
Glennon with a bad pick-6. Time to put Trubisky in the game?

Titans 6, Jaguars 3 (Halftime)
Blake Bortles throws a pick, ending a career-best streak of 109 passes without an interception.

Chiefs 6, Eagles 3 (Halftime)
Kareem Hunt: 5 carries for 8 yards (plus 1 catch for 16 yards)
Darren Sproles: 7 carries, 37 yards
LeGarrette Blount: zero touches
Carson Wentz underthrows one play, overthrows the next

Panthers 6, Bills 0 (Halftime)
LeSean McCoy: three carries for zero yards

Ravens 21, Browns 7 (Halftime)
Flacco to Maclin, 2 yard TD with 5 seconds left in half
DeShone Kizer left due to a migraine. Conspiracy theorists contemplate if that term is used in order to avoid concussion protocol. Kevin Hogan (who?) becomes the 8th Browns QB to throw a TD pass since 2015.

Per Mike Rodak:

Bills WR Andre Holmes left the field appearing to be in pain, holding his left arm/shoulder awkwardly, after a Buffalo punt in the third quarter. Buffalo is thin at receiver, with only Jordan Matthews, Zay Jones and Kaelin Clay their remaining healthy options. None have catches today.

Titans 18, Jaguars 3
Special teams are hurting Jacksonville.
46 yard punt return sets up 17 yard Derrick Henry TD run.
Bortles is 7/18, 2 picks, 3.2 yards per pass attempt.

Jacksonville's possessions:
  1. FG
  2. 3-and-out (4 yards)
  3. 3-and-out (4 yards)
  4. Fumble (5 plays, loss of 2 yards)
  5. Interception
  6. Interception (3 plays, 4 yards)
  7. 3-and-out (minus -4 yards)
  8. Punt (4 plays, minus -3 yards)

Chiefs 13, Eagles 13 early in 4th quarter
Wentz with a nice fade pass on the back shoulder to Alshon Jeffrey, who had lined up in the slot, for a 16 yard TD.
KC comes right back with Kareem Hunt scoring on a 53 yard run to re-take the lead.
Eagles come back with a FG to tie it.
Philly has twice as many first downs (22 to 11), but they are only 1-4 in the red zone.

Steelers 20, Vikings 9 (10 min to play in 4th)
Pittsburgh has the same amount of 1st downs via penalty (4) as rushing.
Steeler defense has limited Minnesota to 4.1 yards per pass.

Ravens 24, Browns 10 (13:20 to play in 4th)
Cleveland 2-9 on 3rd down, and has drawn 9 flags against them.
Baltimore defense with another big game, forcing 3 turnovers; they had 5 last week against the Bengals.

Panthers 9, Bills 3 (1:39 left to play)
LeSean McCoy: 12 carries for 9 yards
Tyrod Taylor: 3.4 yards per pass (96 yards passing, net 78 after 3 sacks)
Bills: 2 turnovers, 6 punts
Time of Possession: Carolina 38:44, Buffalo 19:37

Titans 37, Jaguars 9 (4:14 to play)
Tennessee 1st Half possessions:
Punt - FG - Punt - Punt - INT

Tennessee 2nd Half possessions:
FG - FG - TD - TD - TD - TD

Cardinals 13, Colts 13 (2:00 to play)
Arizona converts on a 3rd & 20, gets another 15 yards for roughing the passer, then Palmer connects with Nelson for a 45 yard TD.
Indy goes 3-and-out and Ariz gets a FG on the ensuing drive to tie the game.
Colts had a 13-3 lead after a Vinatieri FG with under 12 minutes to go before that.
Brissett: 19-34, 208 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT

The chiefs might just take the division and challenge the raiders. We will see.

Bucs 29, Bears 7 (Final)
Chicago with garbage time score to avoid the shutout.
Bears rushing: 16 rushes, 20 yards, 1.3 yards per carry.
Glennon: 31/45, 301 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT
Bears: 4 turnovers.

Brissett is going to OT.

Cardinals just missed a 42 yard FG to win the game overtime herobal chance for the Pied Piper Jacoby Brissett in Indy.

Cards miss the winning kick to send it to OT!? Brissettemania lives!

CTV is showing sportscentre. I can't get bonus coverage of Clots vs Cardinals OT.
