What a heads up play by purdy to stick the ball out past the 1st down before his slide AND stay in bounds. Incredible awareness

How is NFL and their hired hack (Terry McCauley) so consistently wrong?

It’s not the foremost point of the ball when a body part contacts the ground because the player initiated a slide. The play is dead immediately when the player begins to give himself up - not when the player touches the ground. That should’ve been marked short of the line to gain.

What’s as shocking as the NFL and McCauley being completely wrong, is the fact that both McCauley and the league are both in lockstep, as if their positions are being coordinated in real-time. It was the same deal during the Pats-Vikings game with the Henry catch.

WTF is going on with this league and its officials??

I thought Pete was a defensive coach, that Seattle defense is horrid.

lol seattle just cost themselves a miracle opp by tackling mason at the 1 rather than let him score...

Mac also missed three games, technically 4.

And if you’re splitting blame, you’re right that it’s more than just the OC. Offensive line has been brutal also. Not just my opinion, it’s been pretty terrible. Mac’s not without blame but it’s like 90%/10% if we’re putting a percentage on it.
I think more of it is Mac than you do, but yeah, he's been faced with challenges.
I think 60/40 or 70/30 at best, and 7 TDS is a disgrace no matter what planet we're playing on.

And the Mac Apologists say what he's doing is fine.
It's NOT, IDGAS what anyone has to say.
He's got 7 tds in what, 10+ games?
Dealt a bad hand? Yeah, but 7 TDS is beyond Pathetic.
Zealot? Lmfao get real, Watson will probably have more than Mac b4 the EOY, and he hasn't even PLAYED in 2 years., Purdy will blow by him.
Zach Wilson might have better stats....think about THAT.

Mac Would run, but slide short of the sticks.

I AM BEHIND AND CHEERING HIM.
He's still Pathetic.

Lmao though

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking when the replay showed that he began his slide BEFORE the Line to Gain.

Neither of their explanations would make any sense, until these 5 words are remembered and then it all does: Chicks Dig The Long Ball.

Purdy looks way better than Mac more confident decisive stronger arm.
And we took Mac Jones in the first.
And if Mac flames out we get Jimmy G in FA. 49ers situation could really benefit us. We need a few more pieces on Offense to make it really potent.

I'm surprised McCaffrey is so durable, the guy looks really slender for a running back.
He and Pierre Strong Jr are the same exact height/weight. We're just so used to looking at Rham every week.

Sounds like they're right on this, unless you can find the specific rule about initiating a slide because I can't in the rulebook. That was a great slide by Purdy based on the exact wording of the rules.

An official shall declare the ball dead and the down ended:

d. when a runner declares himself down by:

  1. 2. sliding feet-first on the ground. When a runner slides feet-first, the ball is dead the instant he touches the ground with anything other than his hands or his feet.

It helps that he has a top O-line with top weapons as well

and a good OC/HC

In retrospect, I think the Niners should have stayed put in the 2021 draft and drafted Parsons, Slater, or Mac at 12th overall
