Prediction: Pats open the season @ Bucs

So the defending super bowl champions open up the season ... against a team with a losing record?
I thought this was always about having two very good teams play in the first game of the season.

Apparently we are once again going to have the Dallas Cowboys - a team that went 7-10 last year, and a team that has not advanced beyond the divisional round in thirty years - in primetime or near-exlusive nationwide time slots nearly every week.

2024:
Week 1 - 4:30, 99% nationwide coverage on Fox
Week 2 - 1:00, largest Fox coverage of any early game
Week 3 - 4:30, 95% nationwide coverage on Fox
Week 4 - Thursday Night Football (100%)
Week 5 - Sunday Night Football (100%)
Week 6 - 4:30, 98% nationwide coverage on Fox
Week 7 - Bye
Week 8 - Sunday Night Football (100%)
Week 9 - 1:00 on Fox, but still about 80% coverage
Week 10 - 4:30, 98% nationwide coverage on CBS
Week 11 - Monday Night Football (100%)
Week 12 - 1:00 on Fox, but still about 90% coverage
Week 13 - 4:30 Thanksgiving game (100%)
Week 14 - Monday Night Football (100%)
Week 15 - 1:00 on Fox, but still about 80% coverage
Week 16 - Sunday Night Football (100%)
Week 17 - 1:00 on Fox, but still about 90% coverage
Week 18 - finally lower, due to other games having playoff implications

2024 was not an anomaly.
Dallas Cowboys getting weekly nationwide broadcast coverage is the always the same story.
Every. Single. Year.

True NFL fans want to see a variety of the best games - not a mediocre team every single week.

I don't want to hear about ratings; that's circular logic.
The Cowboys get good ratings!
Why?
People are familiar with them.
Why?
Because they're on all the time.
Why?
The Cowboys get good ratings!
Return to step one; rinse, lather, repeat.

You're not wrong the Chiefs opened vs Det and Ravens the last 2 years just to add some context. They could have given us something better but I bet Eagles fans will enjoy rubbing it in Dallas's face all night.

It will be one of the few times that I will be rooting for the Iggles to win in a blowout.

I still have a little grudge over the Eagles so I root the other way

You can say that all you want but fact is the Cowboys are a huge draw. They bring the viewers, they bring the ratings.

You can ask me why they get the ratings and my answer is I don't have the first f'ing clue. But the bottom line is they get the ratings.

Cowboys are a massive draw and are "America's Team".....and will probably lose on national TV which Jerry Jones' reaction is always a must see. Also, the champion plays at home so the choices are limited. Lions will be considered Super Bowl contender so they are out and should be reserved for later in the season. It's between the Rams, Cowboys and Commanders. Cowboys are the obvious choice.

I hated it when the Pats opened against the Steelers in 2002 and Colts in 2004. Those should've been late season primetime matchups.

I thought those were fun wins and good ways to start defending the title.

They just played each other in the AFCCG. Looking back at the schedule, the choices in 2004 were Indy, Baltimore, NY Jets, MIA, Cincy, SF and SEA. I would've gone with SEA or Cincy. Colts vs Pats showdowns should be mid season at the earliest.

2002 they were limited to GB or Pittsburgh. The rest of the home games were nothing special.

Pats at Broncos in 1998 was also lame. That would've been a good matchup later in the season if Bledsoe were healthy.

The NFL does an excellent job at keeping fans interested in their product 365 days a year...
They always have something to offer.. 24 weeks in the fall and winter, Free Agency The Draft, Team Workouts, Schedule release, mandatory team activities, TC and then they start all over again..
They have even marketed the schedule release as a big deal..

Has there been any Patriots leaks especially vs. Titans and Saints? Probably the two most sought after fan away games.

There were plans in the works to move the Bills to Toronto. I was told that by a Toronto sports writer at SB 42 in Phoenix.

Toronto had plans for a state of the art stadium at a time where Buffalo was wishy washy on building a new venue for the Bills.

What derailed the deal was the recession.

I asked the scribe why Toronto and of course location, but also a lot of companies had headquarters in Toronto and they would fill the luxury boxes no problem. Plus, the NFL would have its foot in the Canadian door for expansion.

Patriots home vs falcons week 1

My daughter lives there
We love it
A mistake most people make is they go down there and spend all their time on Bourbon Street and they don’t seek out some of the best restaurants in the country, I was guilty of that when we went to the first Pats vs Rams Super Bowl.

Friday night before SB36 No reservation and no clue we were walking into a 5 star steakhouse me and my father randomly found a great restaurant. We asked for a table and they told us reservations were filled months in advance and then at the same time 2 seats opened at the bar and we got lucky.

I was a little to vague on my comment
My daughter lives in Nashville
But I understand where you are coming from about the bayou

Predict who the Pats open up against. They opened up against MIA 3 years in a row from 2020-2022. That is straight lazy schedule makers.

It's most likely going to be an AFC team. I want a ****ty team to help their chances of starting off strong. Give me the Panthers, Browns, Jets or Raiders.
