I was surprised the NFL was mentioned in a press report last night reporting that Congress passed a ban on internet gambling. Unfortunately now I can't find the reference to the NFL in the article - it may have been edited out. However searching the web, the web page for the group "National Coalition against Legalized Gambling" says the NFL is "one of online gambling's most ardent opponents".

Their web page says "the NFL and nearly all other amateur and professional sports associations want sports betting banned because of the corruption gambling causes in sports." The web page even has a photo of the NFL's two lobbyists in Washington DC speaking at a conference against legalized gambling last fall. It's surprising the NFL has been so quiet in their opposition.

Congress is F'd up on this issue. They're merely protecting places like Atlantic City and Vegas.

Might have something to do it and/or the fact that they are getting no piece of the billions of dollars spent on internet gambling.
