I dont think the team is that far off. BB has completely rebuilt teams in a single offseason before.

Getting faster at LB and Safety will be huge for what happened with the Bills. I think BB wasn't ready for that level of speed. He's not going to get caught flat footed two years in a row
BB definitely has done that. 2002-2003 was an awesome turnaround but I don't know if that level of talent is here. Guess we'll see.

You look to see acquisitions and you expect the chargers NOT to improve, and you expect the patriots to improve? How about Miami?
Where did I say I don;t expect them to improve?

Most teams at least try to improve every year...but the best-laid plans of mice and men. Scheduling (not just with who you're playing, but home or away and WHEN you play them), injuries, lack of chemistry with new guys, off-years by players they're counting on - it all matters.

I expected a better Patriots team because of their middle-class FA acquisitions last year, and I got one..but I didn't expect the adds would leapfrog them to the top of the heap. On paper, the Chargers have made a couple of very nice moves talent-wise, but who knows where that leaves them, as with everyone else.

Miami is more talented on O than they were last year, but changing HCs usually takes some time. If they figure it out with Hill, Waddle, and the supporting cast, and Tua can play it right, their offense could be a real handful, sure. I think they're a dangerous team.

I also think last year's Pats were a better team than Miami, despite the head-to-heads. The Pats dominated the first game and had no business losing it - rookie QB, 1st game blues. (Side note: the Dolphins' leading WR in that game was Devante Parker with 81 yards.)

The second game was after the wheels came off - the Patriots were a better team than they showed after the bye. If that;s really who they are, then sure, it's going to be a long season.

And I think Flores was a BIG reason that Phins had the Pats number.

So, we'll see. I'm not, and never have been, sold, on Miami's current defense, particularly without Flores there. I put the teams, on paper, as pretty even right now.

And you'd be happy if that were to occur...we know.

Mac went through many OCs in college. He'll be fine.
He had two OC's, one of them only as a freshman. That's not "many". Continuity matters.

And now he’s going to his second OC as a patriot. In total so far he’s had 3 OCs in college and the pros and will have his fourth this year. He has a national championship and playoff experience under his belt. I’d call that pretty good.

I'm not too worried about Mac and a different OC. One of his strengths is his brains so he should be fine with any OC. I want to see physical improvement
The offensive Coordinator not only calls the plays for the offense, they are in charge of blocking assignments, audibles, pre snap changes, verbiage, route trees, all adjustments. Scouting the opposing defense.

We have the right to be concerned til we see how it all comes together.
My point is Mac could get in better physical shape be faster smarter stronger.
But if everything else around him is lacking or outright collapsing.
His physical improvement won’t count for many if any wins.

All of those trade ideas are comically lopsided in our favor. Not only would the Panthers never trade Horn for #21 + two useless players, they wouldn't also be happy to throw in Robby Anderson weeks after restructuring his contract in a way that makes him less likely to leave the team.
Good point on Anderson, but they would still trade him,
Just consider one thing. The Panthers don't have a pick until the end of the 4th Round. That is 131 plyers between picks. They need to Draft a QB.....,But there are none in this class worthy of a top 10. They can certainly get a blue chipper at pick #6 like pass rush or O Line and not forfeit that #6 for a QB who might be mediocre. Agree with me on that part.

A first Rounder and another pick, plus two players (call them useless but still a first and second rounder) trading for a player in injury recovery and a WR that they wanted to move just a few weeks ago in Anderson doesn't sound so nuts to me. To get something, sometimes you have to give something. And in this case the Pats would be giving up players and picks including a 1st, for....potential? Is that a fair statement?

The Panthers need bodies at this point. Yes someone else might offer them a better deal to move out of #6, but this proposal involves a damaged player for two high picks still, and a 1st rounder to grab a QB with a five year option you don't overdraft for. Also the Panthers do great with big WR for some reason.

Summarize: In a nutshell if you are the Panthers do you trade a rehabbing CB for a 2022 First rounder to get your QB them with a 5th year option, but then get an extra pick like the 5th we got for Pro Bowler Mason? Then you can argue about Anderson, Williams and Harry after that.

The Patriots have their work cut out for them and its starts with the 2022 Draft. We NEED hit on three Defensive Players form this Draft ie... Pass-Rushing DE to help Judon - 0/1-tech Nose Tackle to replace Carl's Junior Davis - Outside CB to replace JCJackson. Plus they have some second and third year players who need to show what they got.

What would we rather have: Devante Parker's contract plus the price we paid to acquire it... or Sammy Watkins'?

It says a lot about you that you even pose that as a legitimate question.

Watkins’ last WR1/2 level season was 2015. He has been living off his reputation ever since then, while playing at a WR3-4 level. He is useless.

The magic number is at least 3 like last year. If I had a choice I'd like a quality run stopper, east west LB or pass rusher opposite Judon and a WR. We've got to balance it out a bit.

Apparently I can't read today. (Delete)

Trust the wolf! We will get 4 contributors for the 2022 season from this draft.

Agreed. The Davante Adams trade and the Carr re-signing are not the Patriot Way of using lots of mid-pay guys and less top of the market pay scales. Maybe that is what Harmon means? I did not check the date of Harmon's comments. I would be shocked if Josh does not work in some of the EP offensive system just like Brady has done in Tampa. I expect the practices will be structured and tough. Josh is an organized detailed guy and I doubt that will change.

Do you understand what the Ehrhardt-Perkins system is? It's NOT the plays themselves. It's the process used for setting the terminology of the plays.
