Now trade for Bradberry or make up with Gilmore.

No holes going into the draft.

Not really a big surprise, but it sounds like it was an either/or type situation with all the name receivers out there. Doesn’t preclude a draft pick, but sounds like it does preclude OBJ if true.

Notable additions from the 21 team: parker, j white, j jones, butler, peppers

Notable losses: jcj (still needs replaced), mason (probably replaced by onwenu to a reasonable degree), karras (likely the replacement is not yet on the roster). Not gonna include ht/van noy/ collins as i felt they needed upgraded anyhow, don’t really consider those losses.

I think its highly likely we field at least as good a team as last year. I think its quite likely with a good draft we field an improved team with key weaknesses addressed. Thats obviously the preference given how much more competitive the conference will be this year. There’s still work to do but im quite happy with this offseason where it currently stands.

Thanks. As has been said before, adding Hicks, Flowers, and GiIlmore all on 2 year contracts with the 2nd year being the cap hit would be fabulous. Still need a guard - the Canadian?

I like the idea of trading for Bradberry as well.

Great thought at CB.

Bradberry will still be a $10M+ cap hit and is unsigned after 2022. Lose a draft pick, pay $10M+, and we are left empty handed in 2023. Not sure that is great idea.

Only if we can do a long term Contract and push the money Downstream.
I prefer Gilmore.
But I would feel alot better with 2 more cornerbacks on the team.
I am Really hoping we know of Wades development.
Have high hopes for him.

I would love hicks and Gilmore as well, but not very hopeful on the Gilmore front. And not sure what kind of money hicks is looking for at this point, for the right price absolutely.

I could be overconfident about guard but im not worried whatsoever about it. Desjarins, ferentz, or preferably bring some guys in. One things for sure weve got plenty time and a full slate of draft picks to address things. Not to mention some potential solutions alreadY on the roster at key areas of need.

2 more plus
Butler, Mills, Jones, Wade, Mitchell and Bryant makes 8
STer Bethel makes 9 ( and he is making the 53).
Williams makes 10, but he will be traded.
============
I think that we'll carry 6, include the STer; I think that 5 position corners is right.
=========
So, sure we should add two top corners so that you can feel a lot better. I do think that we'll draft a corner in the first round.
BOTTOM LINE (6), (5) if Bethel doesn't have a spot.
Mills, top draftee, Jones, Butler, (Bethel) and ONE more
out of: Wade, WIlliams, Mitchell, Bryant and anyone else we bring in.

That is what no-one factors in correctly - potential solutions already on the roster. We might have a lot at various solutions or nothing, so hard to factor correctly. Guard Desjarins; TE Asiasi, Keene; WR Nixon; CB Wade; Safety Bledsoe; LB Perkins, McGrone, Peppers, Jennings, etc. Not sure there are any potential solutions on the DL (Bill Murray - no jokes needed ) - need some draft picks on the DL.

I get it. You don't like our DL.

I suspect that Belichick disagrees.

DL: Godchaux, Barmore, Guy, Wise, Anderson and one more from Cowart, Ekuale, Carl Davis, and Murray.

Belichick could use a late draft choice and/or a free agent acquisition to get more competition for the last spot, but I doubt that he considers much of a priority.
=====================
What most agree upon is that we could certainly use an EDGE rusher to complement Judon.

I understand your angst. You want to improve the terrible defense from 2021. You know, the defense that was
#2 best in total points against
#4 best in yards against
#4 in yards per play against
#3 in first downs against

I AGREE THAT
The run defense needs improvement. McMillan and Wilson should help. We will draft a corner early, probably in the first. I would note that we already will add Butler, Mitchell, Pepper and Jones to the 2021 defense. Losing Jackson is huge, but those 4 plus a first or early second rounder should help a lot.

And, I hope for some production from the FOUR linebackers that we have drafted in the last two years. Some want yet another LB; I prefer an EDGE rusher.

I ALSO AGREE
that our 2021 Defense was not good enough to stop BUF, and our 2022 Defense won't be either.

If we bring in Gilmore, we probably won't use a first to get one of the top corners.

EDGE might be the right decision. It would be helpful to have a bigger player in the MLB slot as long as they are fast too (rare). McMillan and Wilson are small for shedding a guard. A MLB in the 2nd, after a CB in the 1st or early 2nd after a trade down, like Leo Chenal and a DT like Jones solves our run D problem. The smaller fast LBs can play outside of Chenal (Bentley as a backup). Or an EDGE. Could go either way. Someone opposite Judon so Judon is not constantly double teamed would be nice. Can't have everything. I thought Flowers as our EDGE and then Chenal and Jones in the draft.

Agreed on dt, that seems to be the one area i cant list a possible solution that didn’t play last year. Although bb does seem to like henry anderson, the recent redoing of his contract I believe lowered his savings if cut so I feel like thats an indicator he’s in the plans. Even then, agreed that its probably not enough and hopefully one of the higher priorities, hicks or s high pick.

rankings are too much influenced by schedule. The defense wasn't nearly as good as those rankings imply imo. Against good teams with injuries they did not look top 5
