Is that a real thing? I've never heard of anyone fighting a tag designation in good faith mode is why I ask.

The closest thing to it was Foles threatened to fight it before it happened.

Panthers removed it on Josh Norman because a long term extension was unrealistic.

According to the rules, if a team isn’t making a good faith in signing a player long term, they must remove the tag. I won’t happen unless a player fights it.

This strategy worked so well for La'ven Bell, I'm suprised more players don't use it (sarcasm).

Yes, players that are franchised are still "unsigned" until they actually sign the franchise tender. So they can just not sign it and are under no obligation to play. Of course, they won't get paid.

I believe that TB has many of its own to deal with first. gronk is one of 20 free agents.

I was just answering MAC10. TB may have 20 free agents, but they have 50 players signed as well.
