NFL Cut down Date

Interesting they'd trade for Rouse in that case.

Unless this dude actually can't play. He's not *good*, but I didn't think he was in the 'can't play' camp.
Not sure, but worth noting that Neal, a 2022 first-round pick for the Giants, didn't have his option picked up last year and ended up signing a vet-minimum deal with the Giants this year.

fair enough
I recalled the on-the day discussions incorrectly.
Of course, now we all accept the major reach and congratulate staff.
TIL a 5th round pick is a 'major reach'.

Also, he made the team.

I acknowledge that I was wrong at the time.

However, I view him a 6th round value that made the team, certainly a fine pick. Kudos the coach that provided the input.

And, yes, I probably shouldn't be calling anyone after the 4th a "major reach". I am just recalling where Prunty was on the various big boards at the time.

So...taking what you value as a 6th rounder...in the 5th round...is a 'major reach'?

I was wrong about him: what a disappointment.

The ratings by the mediots was late DAY 3. Please list any Big Board where he was in the top 200.

FROM GOOGLE AI
No major draft analyst rated Karon Prunty in the top 200; instead, he had a consensus big board rank of 512 and was generally ranked outside the top 50 cornerbacks (such as 57th on Dane Brugler's board). [1, 2]
The New England Patriots selected Prunty 171st overall in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, which was considered a significant reach relative to public media rankings and consensus boards. However, the team's internal evaluation was much higher, supported by a pre-draft top-30 visit. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Again, kudos to the coach who pushed for him.

I watched Pyburn a lot at Florida….great motor and smart player….pats should take a flyer on him if he doesn’t return to college which I still don’t understand how they are allowing this …?

You know the 5th round is Day 3, yes?

You put a 6th round value on him yourself. They took him in the 5th round. I'm just really curious why you think this is a 'major reach', as you put it.

(Also, side note, you don't need AI to give answers, you actually know some stuff. Don't go full Triumph.)

Good or bad it appears some colleges will allow them to come back? All I know is...if it's allowed then it should only apply to UDFA's who have marginal if that NFL talent. Drafted players....status quo.

Ok Zum...what if he goes back to college...is ALL-PRO starter...should he go back in the draft? And where? What if his projection is 1st round?

Prunty was the exact kind of prospect that the media misses—he bounced from program to program and didn’t get a combine invite. But he had multiple top-30 visits, so it’s a fair bet that some other teams ranked him higher than media big boards did.
