NFL.com ranking of backup QBs: Mallett #11, Tebow #17

Not open for further replies.
If Bridgewater is a Pat next year, it'll mean that we've had a really good look at at least one of our backups because we'd have been without Brady for the year. That kid is going top 3 at worst if he declares.

Really - you know that for a fact huh? How about if the Patriots traded multiple 1st round picks in order to grab one of the really good quarterbacks that are coming up in the next two years? Oh wait - that is not plausible, right?

Anything is plausible. You making a logically sound argument for one.

It would be greatly appreciated that the mods do something about the Tebow trolls because if the regular posters can see that these guys are trolls based on not talking about anything else other than Tim Tebow and not the entirety of the team and other discussions that this website should be having, then something is wrong.

Tebow is one member of the 90-man roster. He is likely going to be a roster bubble candidate. In my view, Tebow is not making this roster and there is no way that Mallett is giving up his backup role. Why we have to continue belabor a point that frankly have been proven time and again is beyond me because of a group of people that simply don't get it.

It would be greatly appreciated that the Tebow trolls are sent to the wasteside.

I'd wager that the real problem here are the posters who run around throwing out false accusations and making up a bunch of BS. Guys like you who encourage them with "likes" are just icing on the cake.

I'll happily talk about the rest of the players on the team as I get to know them. Right now, it's a pretty blank slate as there's only been the minicamp.

I don't know Edelman's history, so how can I comment on it ? What I know of Ninkovitch can fit on the inside of a matchbook. I'd think that you'd be more upset if a bunch of us newcomers were running around jumping into every thread telling you who should be on the team and how it should be run.

I could care less what you think. You are here because of Tebow. Nothing more and nothing less and when we make point after point after point that is valid about the reason you are here, you continue and continue and continue about a guy that frankly 99% of all Patriot Nation could give two ****s about.

Tebow is ONE man on a 90 man roster and as soon as we start trying to talk about Ryan Mallett what do you and the other Tebow Pom Poms start doing, interrupt the ******* discussion.

If the mods are not going to start doing something about it then at least we know what is important on this particular website.

Demosthenes, you deny you printed that you a Tebow fan and have no team allegiance?...really?...I'm not wasting time searching anything, I'm putting you on ignore. You asked if I was at the second preseason camp that Brady had.. I told you, yes I was . You used a comment by Ross about what he saw in PRESEASON GAMES. That's nice and all but has nothing to do with what I told you THREE TIMES NOW. I was at the CAMP...writing from ten to twenty feet away. Stop trying to bait me with your trolling nonsense.

I'm sorry but who the **** are you?

I appreciate you having my back, but really I would hate to see you get in trouble for something so silly as fans of our 3rd string QB telling me not to come into threads.

I'm glad I came in because you, joker and I engaged in a conversation about Mallett and our long term QB plan, that's a meaningful topic and one of the reasons I enjoy coming on this site.

Talking about how Tebow not starting over Sanchez I could live without.

I am beginning to not give a **** anymore. I have about ******* had it with this website only talking about Aaron Hernandez and Tim Tebow. As far as I am concerned, the whole state of Florida can fall off of the map.

I'm looking into a Grease Monkey app that lets Firefox users block specific offenders AND their quote blocks. As soon as I try it out I'll let you know.

I'm guilty of the Hernandez talk, mainly because I'm intrigued by how someone can be that ******ed. I'm beyond it at this point though, with exception of my looking forward to seeing what his defense strategy will be.

Tebow I agree it's very redundant and almost appears to be a case of posters who view any type of attention as good attention.

I view you as a knowledgable member and hope that you continue to come in and talk about meaningful football topic.

Joker, here is what I said in that post:

Pujo, unlike with college football, I've never found a home or developed ties with any particular NFL team. I live in KY so I have no local team, unless you count Cincy, but who would. My family is from KY and my dad wasn't a fan of any particular team, so no attachments there either.

However, I am a fan of Tebow and the hope is that he finally lands somewhere and stays for quite some time, thereby allowing me to actually develop some roots (and giving him some career stability at the same time.) From everything I have encountered so far, the Pats seem like a great place for that to be.

The 2nd paragraph might not have been as clear as I intended. I'll try and correct that here.

When I said "thereby allowing me to actually develop some roots", I was talking about developing a deeper attachment to the Pats over time. That doesn't come immediately, even to fans who come to the team through other means. A person generally starts following a team and over time, they become a hard core fan.

So yes, I am a Tebow fan and since he signed here, I will root for the Pats and hope they do well regardless of Tebow's role on the team. Hopefully, he'll have a long career here and over time, I'll become a die hard and remain one until they bury me in the ground.

As for me asking if you were at Brady's second preseason, you missed the point of the question. I made the statement about Brady playing better than Bledsoe in camp. You countered that by saying "No, I was there at Brady's rookie camp, that did not happen, you don't know what you were talking about"

My question was to point out that I wasn't referring to his rookie camp, but rather, his 2nd year camp. In other words, your point was moot because you were refuting a claim that I didn't make.

Hey Joker - the greasemonkey ESPN app was particularly useful on the ESPN website some time ago before ESPN decided to change its message board into the dynamic PHP/RSS format.

I don't know who developed at app but if he is a active PatsFans.com member, I am confident that he could also tailor it.

That guy knows how to write some pretty good script....

I think we just don't understand how you can base your interest in a sport around one single player, and a player who may not take a single snap this season. That seems more like a teeny bopper crush who hangs posters on the wall of Justin Bieber and talks about their make believe wedding with their middle school friends than a person who is interests enough in the NFL to spend hours debating in a forum.

Would you be in here if not for Tebow? Because if you wouldn't I think it's fair to understand why fans of this TEAM feel used by the fact that you're only engaging with us because of one person and if he leaves you'd no longer have any use for us.

I don't know that you've ever made a valid point about why I am here. You certainly haven't made any valid points about me personally.

What you have done is spout a bunch of BS which you have been repeatedly called on by manx and others.

As for Mallet, what's to discuss at this point ? You saw him last year and haven't seen him since. You were happy with his development last year so there's no issue. You haven't seen him perform yet this year, so there's no way to really say how much he has improved.

Once camp rolls around, people, including me, will start talking about the other guys on the field once we start to see something from them.

Seriously, if you want to defuse the Tebow talk, stop trying to prove that he's the worst QB to ever play in the NFL and that there's absolutely no way he'll make the roster. Just hang out and see what happens.

But, as long as some posters here want to continue to attack him, I'm more than happy to step up and defend him because I think that he's much better than a number of you give him credit for.

Then you clearly read what you want to read and ignore all of the valid points that have been made through the entirety of your presence to this website.

Tebow is not a very good quarterback and when his time with the Patriots is over and if he is given a 4th chance to prove to an NFL team that he is a NFL quarterback, go find that teams' board and continue your rant with them about Tebow and his 47% pass completion ratio in 2011 because as far as I am concerned, that is who Tim Tebow is and those facts are undisputed.

You know Brady, I can actually appreciate that position.

For most of my 43 years on the planet, I've been a huge fan of college football and have a few teams that I follow closely (Univ of Kentucky, Georgia and Auburn.) The NFL didn't interest me as much. Definitely not enough to have a favorite to speak of. My parents weren't into NFL football, so I didn't become a fan of Team X because my dad was. Atlanta was the closest city with an NFL team, but though it's in Georgia, most of us further South considered it to basically be another state. There was Atlanta, then there was the rest of Georgia.

That said, the NFL is still football, so I watched whatever games were on every Sunday and Monday night.

Long story short, Tebow came along and though I didn't like him at first, and couldn't understand the hype, I came to love the way the kid played the game. Even though I wasn't on the field, I guess it was kind of like a fighter earning their opponent's respect.

It amazed me that pundits said that this kid couldn't make it in the NFL. I disagreed. So, when he went to Denver, I suddenly had a reason to be interested in a specific team. You know, some reason to be a FAN of that team. As he was only there for two contentious years, there wasn't a lot of time for roots to develop with Denver. So when he went to the Jets, I went as well. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Now he's here with the Pats. So, here I am and yes, as I've said already, I'll be cheering for the Pats all season long no matter what role Tebow plays, even if that means bringing Brady some Gatorade on Sundays. Hopefully, he will be here for some time and those roots that I spoke of will have time to develop.

BTW, just a quick aside, I played football for 7 years or so while growing up (center, nose guard and punter). Loved the game and still love it to this day. It's the ultimate team sport and while I might (and do) have a favorite player, the team is whom I'll be rooting for.

You just assume that he is going to be here when camp breaks don't you?

Like he is that good to be a member of this team. Ridiculous.

Then you clearly read what you want to read and ignore all of the valid points that have been made through the entirety of your presence to this website.

Umm, no my friend. I've read and understood exactly what you've said.

Tebow is not a very good quarterback

Hey, we are getting closer in opinion. I'd say that Tebow isn't a very good quarterback compared to Vet QBs with 50 or so starts under their belts, or with "rookie sensations". But, compared to other young QBs with fewer than 16 starts ? That's a different story.

Here's an interesting question. Do you think Ryan Mallet would have done very well if he took over for Brady the last 3 games of 2011, or the last 11 games of 2012 ? Do you think he would have looked like a polished passer? Or in command reading defenses ? Or would he have looked like a raw, young, inexperienced QB ?

Yeah, because QBs can't improve year to year. That whatever Comp % and QB Rating a QB has over his first 16 starts will be his career ceiling.

There's a number of current and future HoF QBs that should be happy that you weren't the one to assess their careers after their first 16 starts
