Anyone putting any bets on the NFL this season?

Going to stick some money on the Pats to win the Superbowl at 9/1, maybe Brady MVP.

Patriots, Redskins, Broncos, Packers, Texans, Niners and Falcons all to win their divisions - 67/1

Aaron Dobson - Offensive Rookie of the Year - 40/1

Finally, any team to go 0-16 - 40/1

Division picks are all good, but would never bet on a team going 0-16 in todays league. There is just too much parity and it only takes one or two plays for even a terrible team to beat a playoff team. Plus, with division games, the gap is even closer for terrible teams (see: the Rams last season, Dolphins in 04, etc.)

Are there any reputable online sites people use? I was thinking of joining one but it seems a little sketchy and I'm a bit hesitant to use.

67/1 for those division winners seems a cracking price, might put that one on too!

I'd swap Dallas for Washington. And I'd up odds with Colts instead of Texans. There is no way that many division winners from last year repeat.

Tony--I've been using one of the biggest online books for at least 13-14 yrs now which is sportsbook.com. The one and only drawback that I've had with them is the fact that they've recently been taking a little longer to get the FedEx check out in the mail. It used to only take a couple weeks, but now it's been taking about 6 weeks.

Another really reputable online book is sportsinteraction.com. They are based here in N.America (Canada) which makes the process a lot quicker.

The biggest drawbacks to any online sportsbook is the fact that they make you "register" with them in terms of faxing or scanning your photo identification and a copy of your credit card that you'll use. I can honestly say that I've never had one issue with any fraud or worries though. If you stick with the bigger companies that are well known you'll be fine.

The only thing that would turn me off of the 67/1 division winners futures bet would be the fact that you have an insanely low chance of actually predicting ALL 6 division winners; hence the 67-1 odds.

It's like trying to pick a 6 team parlay on Sundays during football season. It may look like there are 6 "for sure" games over the course of all the time slots, but it just never, ever happens.

Good luck though!

I'll do my usual - fund an account with $200 and make tiny bets until week 10.

I've graphed out my betting and my accuracy is horrible early in the season but by Week 10 I get really good at teasers. I turned $25 into $500 in 2010 and then teased that into $2600 in 2011. Bailed out of gambling last year because of selling a house at a loss. Overall, lifetime, I'm up around $1600 betting on football and I'm gonna try to track things even more.

Most of my losses have come on parlays so I avoid them like the plague.

Live betting is fun as hell too but I stick to betting on FGs for the most part but sometimes I'll bet pass/run for a series. I generally end up down 10% on live betting but I look at that as paying to play, nothing else. It makes games that don't matter a lot more interesting.

Listen to dis dude. Vegas isn't stupid.

BTW, when last I was betting I had a good experience with 5dimes. Who do you guys like as a book?

It keeps the games much more interesting on Thursday and Monday nights when you really couldn't care less

5dimes is very reputable, so is bodog.com etc.

I've had great success with sportsbook.com for a long time, but lately their payouts have taken up to 6+ weeks so that's more than annoying.

Sportsinteraction.com is based in Canada, so they are legit and the payouts don't take too long. I've used them on and off for a long time too.

Yeah and it avoids the whole 'I hope the Patriots win big but Antonio Gates gets two TDs' conflict of interest of Fantasy Football.

Some of the most fun non-Pats games I've watched were rooting for the Browns to cover a teased spread against the Bengals in what would otherwise be a pointless game.

Goddamn you guys are getting me stoked for some betting.

While we're at it, I often refer to statfox.com for my handicapping tools.

Obviously there isn't much information at the moment, but once the season gets going they have some good stuff in there. Lots of great numbers if you're in to that sort of thing for both NCAA and NFL.

4) The Jets still suck!!!

The divisions is a long shot obviously, but I'm quite confident of it, worth a small stake.

You don't have bookmakers in the US? There is about 10 within a 1 mile radius of me - who all have online sites.

I'll probably put a few bets on each week aswell like I do with "soccer". (Last season I was 1 team away from a 200/1 bet two weeks in a row )

Fancy the Hawks, Patriots, Giants, Broncos, Redskins, Texans, Chiefs, Bucs and Broncos for week 1.

I'm tagging this. I went through hell last year trying to sign up for online betting. I finally had to give up it was so ridiculously complicated. That Canadian site shows some promise.
