Next Stop, the Underwear Olympics

I hate to be a bore about this but I think he'll need a good 3 cone. Hernandez had a 6.83 for example. I don't think BB really goes in for straight line speed only.

This passage only helps the case for Burton:

He'll probably be a good special teamer too. He's a bit Julian Edelman-ish in his versatility.

He was also a team captain this year (another check). And finally there's this:

Do-it-all Trey Burton gives Florida offense versatile weapon | www.palmbeachpost.com

I like him as a 6th or 7th rounder.

Another guy to watch out for near the end of the draft is Jeremy Deering of Rutgers. He's a big athletic kid (6'2 200 lbs?) who just got converted to safety from wide receiver. Kick returner, has the athletic tools to do it all in the secondary, and he's from Rutgers.

From what I've seen of Deering he's too stiff to play in space effectively, and is probably a STer only.

How is that relevant in the slightest?

He's from Rutgers, d%#*!@t! BB will draft him early!

He's a borderline TE but I wonder whether Trey Burton might be a move TE pick for BB. I don't know how good his lateral agility is and I think his blocking is suspect (only 225-230lbs) but he has a tremendous amount of burst and lines up in the backfield and as a receiver. He had 12 TDs in his first year under Urban Meyer, albeit 11 rushing, but has struggled to find a place under Muschamp. He does feel a bit like a BB pick though. Will need to see his 3 cone

Big Trey Burton fan, hoping that he ends up in camp with the Pats. Hard worker, team first guy, excellent athlete. I'm in

For me the Combine is where the CB ratings get all screwed up. Good CBs who run slow get pushed down and super fast guys who do not have cover instincts get pushed up.

Then after the Combine, the Mocks get down (or re-done) and there always appears to ab a good CB prospect within reach of the Patriots, but come draft day this is always a run on CBs and they go before they are slotted to go.

People who do mocks have got understand that NFL teams are desperate for CB help. It is the hardest position to fill on a team. The college ranks are full of full-length-fur-coat-wearing, prima-donna WRs (who the draftnics love, even on this site), but precious few CBs who can cover.

I think you'll find that the 'draftniks' on this site are much more interested in DBs than WRs this year.

I can see Bashaud Breeland (CB, Clemson) making big strides post combine. The guy looks very athletic and is silky smooth - he should impress in the drills. Just rewatched all three games of his on Draft Breakdown and I was seriously impressed. If We draft a Talib replacement, this guy has moved near the top of the list.

I gave him a first round grade. He's the type of guy that early in his career you'd be happy leaving on an island.

I just watched him for the first time and I completely agree, this guys just looks like a #1 CB. If Talib walks I would certainly have to consider him in the 1st round.

Weigh-ins and measurements for OL and TE prospects started today. Some early results from Daniel Jeremiah on twitter:

- Greg Robinson weighs in at 6'5" 332#. 35" arms won't hurt. Jeremiah says he "passes the eye test".

- Cyrus Kouandjio taller than expected at 6' 6 3/4" 322#.

Eric Ebron 6' 4 3/8" 250# according to Jeremiah.

So he's 3/8" inches taller and 5 lbs. heavier than listed. That will only help him.

Assuming he runs well, yes. He was long gone, anyway. And the issue with Ebron is his hands.

@Gil_Brandt
CSU OC Weston Richburg 1 of 4 players under 300 lbs. Came in at 298, lighter than you'd want. #NFLCombine

Wendell Jr?

Wendell Jr?

But Richburg has tremendous core strength. He's only 2# under his listed weight, so I'm not sure it's a big red flag. I'd like him around 310# (good weight, of course).

According to Rob Rang on Twitter, Manx's binky Austin Seferian-Jenkins measured in at 6' 5 1/2" 262# with 33 3/4" arms and an 80" wingspan. That's a bit lighter than previously listed. Will be interesting to see how he runs.

Per Dane Brugler on Twitter, Stanford OL Cameron Fleming measured in at 6' 4 7/8" and 323# (shorter than his listed height of 6' 6", and heaver than his listed weight of 318#).)
