Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too? [merged]

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?(Merged)

It's worse than this. Another post has a Newsday reporter talking to Holley yesterday, and by accident Holley just mentions the Jets being caught as though it's public knowledge. The reporter decides to do some legwork, and voila, you have a story. This just goes to show that there were no enterprising reporters looking at the story closely earlier in the year. All those photos of Jets cameramen on the sidelines this year were completely ignored. No one is doing any investigation at all. Pure laziness everywhere.

Modern journalism school is NOT about investigative journalism and a search for facts; it's about agenda journalism. You write what you feel is right.

Hmmm one has to wonder why this admission comes now ....

The Pats have taken the rap and paid the price. The world knows the Pats are cheaters and vile, evil and without any sportsmanship, all that is bad in sports. that is the Pats.

So why why are the Jets now coming out and fessing up. There has to be a reason for this action, where is the pay back, no organization makes these kind of admissions this far removed from the event without some type of return on there actions.

Think about it, how does this help the Jets? Because if it does not help the Jets then why are they doing it? Maybe there is another shoe out there that has not yet fallen that they hope to keep from falling and crushing them if they accept some responsibility for this whole mess.

I do not know but i am sure they did not just suddenly wake up this morning with a conscience and need confession to lighten the load. More is coming it has to be.

If the Patriots gave the Jets permission to videotape them why would they then eject the cameraman from the stadium?

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?(Merged)

IF Patrino hadn't resighned last night I think this story would get the attention it deserves. But as I go around to the different on-line sites, and tv, radio stations all I've head about is Patino this, and Patrino that. But hopefully as game time approaches will hear more about this, and maybe we will get a little vindication.

The Jets employee was caught and booted?

So does this mean that Belichick is now "a snitch" too? Broke the <GASP> unwritten rule in coaching? Quick, someone get Billick on the phone for a soundbite.

My god Jets fans are ******ed. How can they not see the difference in booting the guy out and turning him over to the league?

More fuel for the "It's Us Against Them" fire.

I don't mind that the Patriots are held to a higher standard. They have, after all, set the standard. This is only going to make things worse for the Jets.

I think it was Richard Pryor who had a routine that involved Jim Brown saying, "That's gonna cost you thirty-five yards" and then going back in the huddle and saying "Gimme da ball".

Eric - "That's gonna cost you thirty-five (more) points"!

This is comedy gold. I wish I could be there when the psychotic Mod who began hoping for Brady's spine to get broken because of the 'cheating' Patriots finds out his beloved R-A-T-S have admitted to filming.

The story showed up in Reiss' Pieces, reported by Greg Lee (who?). Lets hope this story continues to stick around for a while...

...and now they've locked yet another thread.

Poor Jets fans... your fantasy is over.

Yes! Absolutely correct!

This is what journalism schools have been teaching for a while now, and it reminds me of the old adage, "There are no bad students - only bad teachers."

It also brings to mind an exchange between a member of the NY press and Joe Namath:

Contentious question from an obviously exasperated reporter: "Hey, Namath, what did you study at Alabama, basket weaving?"

"Hell, no! Something a lot simpler."

"Oh, yeah? What?"

"Journalism!"

!!!!!!

It sounds like Tannenbaum and their PR guy aren't on the same page. The PR guy says that they did tape, while Tannenbaum says that they didn't.

I think the NFL should also consider the fact that they are lying when penalizing the Jets. At least BB was straightforward with them and did what was asked.

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?(Merged)

This is a quote by RutgersJetsFan on that thread:

"I simply don't understand how some people still can't comprehend the difference between doing this pre-2007 and post-2007. It's really unbelievable."

So how are the Pats Superbowls tainted again?

Watching Rats* fans digging themselves in deeper trying to squirm out of this one might be even more fun than watching the Rats* get destroyed this Sunday. Oh, wait, maybe not THAT fun....

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?(Merged)

PFT talks about the Tannenbaum denying taping to Glazer at Fox back in Oct.
http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm
But the notion that the Jets spied on the Patriots in 2006 isn't something new. Jay Glazer of FOX mentioned the rumors in this regard in October.
Said Glazer at the time: "Sources said that the Patriots caught the Jets videotaping at Foxboro[ugh] last season but rather than turn the case over to the league, they simply shut it down during the game.
"In fact, one league source confirmed this accusation but since the Patriots didn't go to the league, there is no evidence to support it. Those close to the Pats insist this isn't sour grapes and it in fact happened, although there's no actual tape or visual proof."
Glazer also got a quote from Jets G.M. Mike Tannebaum, who said "absolutely no truth to that whatsoever! Completely false!"

Now they admit it!!!!!

It's even better than that. The mod locked the thread, but only after posting this:

"All filming at last year's Patriots game was done with pre-approval from the Patriots and in accordance with NFL rules," said Bruce Speight, the Jets' senior director of media relations.

Nuff said. Pats* cheated. Jets didn't.

So, the Jets didn't "cheat" because the PR guy FROM THE JETS, a team that lied about filming until just now coming clean, says so, and that's a good enough reason to end all discussion.

Letterman wishes his writers were this funny. What a tool of a moderator.

WFAN's 20-20 updates are leading off with this. Thought you all might be interested.

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?(Merged)

C'Mon now everyone we have to cut the Jets front office and staff some slack. Maybe they were too busy shouting at women on the rampways to show their breasts to remember a little thing like who taped who and when.

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?(Merged)

Where's theBigDouche/ CoponeKills or any of the other Rats* trolls today? I really want to hear the explanation behind the Pats Superbowls being tainted again......
