wasn't quite clear in the article... has there been any off season surgery?

He suffered the final injury in December and while no one has officially reported if he had surgery, you would have to believe he underwent a procedure given that Curran reported early in the year that his initial injury during the summer required surgery. Unfortunately, he elected to play through it, which - give him credit for his toughness - but it definitely looks like it might be a decision that may come back to haunt him, depending on how things go.

That would be terrible. This really is a better blocking system for him.
He's also been a key difference-maker in the ground game. His loss definitely hurts, especially for an offense that will probably be a little more reliant on the running backs during the early part of the season.

So he really is going down the road of Isaiah Wynn without nearly as much talent. Terrific.
Why is he going down the Wynn road?
You really have to stop with this BS.

He did not suffer a strain or a pull. It was a full on legwhip to the patella.

Making an issue out of this makes as much sense as blaming Theisman for his broken leg.

I saw the replay of the injury during the game, and it was a leg whip to the knee. Then I read that it was a patellar injury. Whether or not he had surgery, these are serious injuries that take 6-9 months to return. You're fully demobilized for the first 3 months.

Even though Bedard links the 2 injuries, I don't see the point in doing that. He really plowed people over in the running game for 4 straight games. The leg whip he suffered was clear as day. It's not the same injury, though it may be to the same knee.

Unless he somehow suffered two patellar injuries in back to back seasons, which ... I've never heard of that happening before.

Pats will move on from him in 2025 if he misses the season. Mediocre replaceable players can't afford injuries. There will be a player on the roster very eager to help his bags get packed.

Bedard didn't do that, that was me - it seemed like he reaggravated/reinjured it based on the reports at the time. And I agree, he was solid in the ground game when he was out there, although I'll definitely admit I didn't look at the second injury as closely as you did.

He suffered a knee injury to the knee in the last days of camp right before the season started… which is why he missed four games in the first six weeks. Whether it was a patellar or not I don’t know. The injury report said knee.

He then suffered a second injury to the same knee in December.

yes, doctor

Within a week after the injury in December, the discussion from the media (after some digging) was whether this injury war career-ending. This current speculation may or may not be based on recent information.

Time for future HOF Layden Robinson to step up.

I’m still surprised about Mafi. Guy was an absolute mauler in college, absolutely tossed guys around. That hasn’t translated so far for him at this level. At least not yet.
As I recall, Mafi was a 5th rounder who was close to not making the 53 last year.

I thought that Leverett and Robinson was brought in because they were not happy with Mafi. That may or may not be the case.

Even now, it isn't clear that Mafi starts, is a backup, or doesn't make the 53. If we keep three IOL backups, he will be fine. If not, he is competing with Leverett for a roster spot.

I start with 8 OL's: 5 IOL's and 3 OT's. I would carry and additional IOL. I am very open as to whether we carry 4 OTs. However, I could see Wallace being the 9th OL, the last back up everywhere but centner.
