NESN.com predicts Maroney to be cut

IIRC BJGE was tripped up on the 4th and 1 run.

I think the horsecollar was another play???

There was no horsecollar, if you're referring to BJGE's run at the goal line. The replay is available on NFL.com.

Read another article this morning that has Sammy Morris as the odd man out. Tomorrow's going to be interesting

That possibility I could understand. The big surprise would be Morris & BJGE out and Clayton in.

By who??

Here's your horse collar.

If you watch the replay, you will see Kehl come across unchecked. BJGE is heading IN. Kehl is going OUT, and he comes around and GRABS BJGE by the back colloar.

Yep. 100% correct. My bad.

Three shots that show the sequence. In the last two shots, you can see where BJGE is starting to collapse under the weight of the horsecollar (see his legs buckling in the last capture).

Also a big tell-tale is BJGE is forced to fall and roll in the same direction as Kehl. That is only possible if you've been horsecollared.

Exactly. He picked good spots tonight, found some holes, reversed direction decently on another... and Fred Taylor looked old,and slow.

I guarantee you if Maroney is cut, he will come back to haunt this team.

If he is not to make the team, the dumbest thing that BB can do is to let him go for nothing in return. I can see several teams having a storng interest in him.

Ok, I must have been watching different games. Maroney had a couple 20 yard runs sideways for a 2 yard gain.

Fred Taylor is still their best true running back.

First, the article says PUP or IR, so they clearly meant Kaczur on IR. Read the print.

Second, BJGE was horse collared.

Third, cut Maroney and put him out of our misery. I would keep Clayton over Maroney but Clayton can be stashed on the practice squad.

Fourth, Orhnberger makes the team over Larsen or Bussey and whoever survives the first cut will probably go week 2 after the suspension of OK----.

Fifth, I don't believe Alexander played last night or if he did it was very little so I think he makes the team over McKenzie. I had high hopes for McKenzie but haven't been impressed and maybe he's a practice squad guy.

Sixthe, I thought I saw someone say Buddy Farnham should make the team. I hope I was mistaken, Buddy and Ross get to take their footballs and go home.

Maroney is not getting cut. Sorry.

Maroney is a major disappointment, but he's the least of our worries. I can't see the Pats outright cutting someone - a former high draft pick - in the last year of his reasonable contract.

I will admit that I absolutely dispise his running style. I can't stand it. I watch him and I want to throw a brick at my Plasma. A prime example - his run last night where he went right - bottled up - reverses direction - looking good - then starts dancing, jiving, turning his back, and what could have been a 15 yard gain turns out to be, I think, 6. Way to go, Larry.

I was listening to WEEI this afternoon and my favorite all-time Patriot was co-hosting. He thinks Maroney sucks too. If Troy Brown thinks it, I feel vaildated.

I don't quite understand why some boneheads don't get the point...

Maroney will NOT be cut due to the very likely potential of INJURY to him or the other senior citizens carrying the rock in NE.

This team has no young stud to take over and because we have a lack of talent in the youth movement at RB,Maroney stays...not because of his ability as an NFL back because he has little, but more because of lack of competition at the position.

The same very reason why a dud washed up bum like Burgess is starting on an NFL team when he obviously isn't good enough anymore.

Maroney is our Burgess on offense...but he is in a RRBC which makes it easier to stomach.

A horsecollar is the grabbing of the inside of the pads and yanking. It's not just grabbing a guy by the shirt from behind.

It's an automatic personal foul penalty...no flag on the play, he got grabbed from behind short of the TD.

What everyone is missing and what will surely get driven home to him is he could have extended his arms out and scored...he didn't even try to extend, he just went down. The "horse-collar" is a red herring, he didn't do his best to score and didn't even try once he started to go down.

All players are prohibited from grabbing the inside collar of the back of the shoulder pads or jersey, or the inside collar of the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, and immediately pulling down the runner. This does not apply to a runner who is in the tackle box or to a quarterback who is in the pocket. Previously, the “horse-collar” tackle rule did not include the back of the shoulder

Scout.com: NFL Rule changes for 2006

Rule was changed a couple years again. Try again Deus. Any other avenues left for you to try and discredit BJGE?

It has nothing to do with discrediting BJGE. It has to do with whether or not a horsecollar penalty was called for.

BJGE will succeed or fail regardless of the call/non-call. From what I'm seeing, that's not a horse collar tackle.
