N’Keal Harry at TE?

People always focus on the size of a guy when talking about a switch to TE, but IMO it's equally (if not more) important to know how well he grasps a whole offense and how much effort he's going to put into blocking. Harry hasn't proven either of those things since being in the pros. This feels more like a Hail Mary to get one more year in the league rather than an actual positive shift for him.
N’Hail Marry

I get the disappointment with Harry, but he did not over draft himself. the "team" was not as high on Harry as Herm Edwards was.
Bill listened to the wrong people. Herm convinced Bill that Harry was the next Dez Bryant.

In fairness to Belichick Dave Schoenfeld was the one who made that pick. Everyone on their staff gets a turn to make a draft pick, and as head equipment manager it was Dave’s turn. In fairness to Dave he says the scouts misled him, so it’s not really his fault.

It was Josh McDaniels who actually pushed for Harry. There were articles about it during the 2020 season when the media was dragging BB though the mud or the 2022 season. In fact, they took the story verbatim from @DropKickFlutie who was telling us long before the media caught on. Supposedly, there was some weird "Foxboro workout" that sealed the deal.

Are you saying the media got the story from DropkickFlutie? I can buy the idea that MacDaniels pushed for Harry, but DKF was completely full of ****. He acted like he participated in every meeting the Patriots staff had.

Agree with this completely. Using a players college coach for accurate scouting is unreliable, They are usually going to shine them up because the more players that are drafted, and higher they are drafted, the easier it is to recruit. You are better off using their opposing coaches.

Taking too much input from his circle of college coaches was a common thread in many of BB's biggest draft blunders.

Most of these posts are just plain moronic. Harry was drafted where he should have been. Harry was predicted to more or less be drafted in the first or second. Harry was drafted with the last pick of the first round. First rounders don't always work out. The later in the first round the lower the odds they succeed. Harry had all the tools to succeed. Harry didn't work out. Grow the **** up and move on.

No, but I do think the media gets some of their material from this board though. Even I thought he was being over the top with that story and didn't understand why he kept pushing it on the board, but the media confirmed it. I've been trying to find it, but as time passes, articles go into a black hole of the internet and it's hard to find them. I had posted during them a few years ago and asked Flutie how he knew this, but I didn't get an answer. What I could find is that Bill ignored his scouts who wanted Brown or Samuel and had concerns with Harry which led to "Patriots scouts felt "frustrated" by this process, which led to an "exodus in the scouting department the last few years."

I was going to give this post a "HaHa" but the last sentence changed my mind.

Your love for a failed GM is what's truly moronic..

Let's go down memory lane on Harry's rankings coming out of the draft:

PFF #8th.

Walter Football #6th

CBS #2nd

Sports Illustrated #4th

Drafttek #4th

Sporting News #3rd

You have *****ed about every pick for the last what 15 years. You forget the good ones and never mention your picks who failed, as they usually do. You are old and bitter and foolishly think you could do better than any gm out there. We laugh at your shtick year after year. Every year there are multiple 1st round picks who fail, and multiple players taken later who are better. You wasted the last 20 years *****ing about the greatest most dominant football team ever. Captain, I love you man but really you just make me sad.

They probably thought they could hit another jackpot like Gronk who’s also out of Arizona
