My usual rant after a loss.

But they made it easy. How was he able to keep completing throws to wide open receivers in the middle of the field?

Looked a lot like the McCourtys were getting abused, to me. Gilmore had a FF, several good open field tackles, a couple of PBUs. All the McCourtys got were broken ankles.

He abused Rowe far more than Gilmore and Rowe didn’t even finish the first half. A lot of bortles damage were on crossing/drag routes. Are you going to blame Gilmore for those too?

No. But our secondary has to get better. We could have played more man coverage. He was killing us on those drag routes when we were in zone.

I think we’re in agreement the secondary has to get better.

Ok, what does that have to do with Gilmore? You're ranting on him when the issue is with the Rutgers Trio and Eric Rowe.

As a side note, what? Gilmore's the best corner they've had since 2014 First-half-of-the-season Revis.
To be fair, we always have the hardest time in September for some reason

Jason Mccourty looked bad on plays i noticed him. Someone will have to see the ALL-22 to see if he was that bad. I dont have the patience

There’s a reason he was on the 0-16 Browns
I mean, Josh Gordon was on the 0-16 Browns too, and people are tripping all over themselves trying to get him, by that logic.

He's just done, JMac. Should have hung em up a couple years ago.

No need. He was Jordan Richards-level bad.

Harmon made me scream out loud on one play in the 4th when he got abused by niles Paul. Just a simple
Out route and Paul had to have at least 7-8 yards of separation.

This loss doesn't surprise me for several reasons. They were on the road. It was very hot. They were playing against a defense you could build in Madden. The Pats don't have anyone that can beat their man coverage.

The only way this current group on offense can be decent is if the defense plays a lot better than they did today.

I'd prefer the Pats to avoid the Jags in the playoffs.

The drag routes were even worse for me. And they still ignored the RB's in the passing game. Looks like they didn't learn from last years game.

It's amazing how much this team misses Patrick Chung when he's not out there.

This is as bad as I've seen Duron Harmon play in a long time.

Once Flowers went down we couldn’t generate any pass rush, Hightower didn’t have a good game, the middle of the field was open all day and we didn’t contain Blake...

Our offense didn’t do much in the first half, we just didn’t come prepared, it was too late in the 2nd half.

Don't be so hard on these players. They simply don't have very much talent. Flowers
and Gilmore are their only good players. Jacksonville has 6 Probowl players on defense. As for offense, they have plugged in Patterson at wide receiver even though
he has been a total failure at wr on other teams.

Clap, clap.

This is the harsh truth that many aren’t acknowledging. A bunch of bust drafts and this is the real problem, not the scheme or coaching. Look at the 2014 team. Revis, McCourty, Chung, Wilfork, Jones, Collins, and Hightower. With the exception of Chung, that’s six players who have been at one time considered among the very best in the NFL at their positions.

Let’s face it, from a pure talent standpoint this team is a shell of its former self. Gilmore is a good player, but he cost a lot (that’s what happens when you don’t develop homegrown talent.). Hightower, assuming he can regain his speed, is still a top player. McCourty and Chung are still chugging along okay but looking at their ages it’s likely they are in decline or at least have plateaud. Beyond that, this is a weak collection of talent. Flowers is a very good player but it’s not like he’s an all-pro; he is by far and away the best of their front 7 though. Roberts and LB3 might not make a lot of team’s rosters. Their defensive line starts what would be backups or specialists on past teams, but fans overrate them because they are starting for the Patriots.

I was really hoping they’d have a huge draft, but it looks like they are going to come up short again. Makes me even more frustrated about the return they got for Garoppolo.

I think they’ll be in the hunt this year, but this is from a talent perspective the weakest roster they’ve had in many years, you can’t blame injuries, and there aren’t any developing project players ready to emerge. This team badly needs to hit the jackpot in a draft very soon.

It's a complementary game and my rant puts a share of the blame on the offense when it choked off the momentum with that crushing strip sack after huge interception by Van Noy. At that moment even a FG could have made it a 1 score game.

That was the play that lost the game. Patriots could not have any turnovers and that was their only one.

yeah..it was a tragic, soul crushing day. The Pats lost the second game of the season and looked bad doing it. Season's over now. A tragedy. Terrible.I'll never get over it. After 18 years you'd think they'd KNOW what this means to us but no...they failed us.I'll carry this scar on my heart the rest of my life and it's all because of them.
