Alright, even though I went to bed at 3:30 I was watching continuous post game coverage and haven't had a chance to rewatch the entire game yet, but here's what I recall as the best 5 non scoring plays of the game.
.) Hightower strip sack of Matt Ryan on 3rd-and-1 with 8:31 left in the 4th. That's the point when I went from hopeful to 'wait, we could have something here.' Huge play to set the offense up on a short field. Obviously we needed points, but just as importantly the short field allowed them to score quickly.
.) Flowers 12 yard sack 3:56 left & Subsequent holding penalty - Just when the Falcons looked like they could kick a field goal that would put the final dagger in the heart of the Pats, the defense came up HUGE by knocking them backwards. I mean, this stuff only happens in movies, right?
.) Chris Hogan reception on 3rd-and-10 with 3:17 left at NE 9 yard line. We were all 'feeling the comeback' at this point but the reality is that a failed conversion this deep on their own side of the field likely would have led to a punt (and us praying for another chance at the ball). This 16 yard reception was HUGE in keeping the eventually game tying drive alive.
.) Amendola 4th-and-3 conversion in third quarter. A big 17 yards recepetion that kept an eventual TD drive alive and keep any remaining hope of a comeback alive.
.) Edelman circus catch on game tying drive in the 4th. This was first down so it wasn't the most crucial, but it was still extremely uplifting to see a circus catch go in the Pats favor. We've seen it go against us so many times, by seeing Edelman make this catch I think it increased the team's confidence as a whole.
