Brady won 40% of those 10 SBs.

Look at it another way - most of the current top QBs were top ten picks. Five of the top eight QBs in QBR were top 10 picks. Two were #1 picks. Seven of the top 12 were top ten picks. And those seven don’t include Burrow and Stroud - 1 and 2 respectively - who are obviously good QBs.
Even the Andrew Luck example of not giving him any help and ruining his career shows how if you get the QB right no matter how bad you suck at GM, coach it's almost impossible to be bad.

33-15 in 3 seasons with Ryan Grigson one of the worst GMs in the last 20 years and Chuck Pagano.

There are probably 7 first round QB's and 7 first round OT's.

We should be able to trade in order to get both in the first.

The 3 most important units on an nfl team have not changed in over 50 years:
1. QB
2. OL and DL
Everything else pales in comparison.
Note that qb is #1.
Yes, he needs at least a serviceable ol to succeed but drafting a quality qb is harder than drafting a stud lt.
If you have the need and you get the opportunity, you MUST draft the qb.
You may never get another chance.
Unless you believe there are no quality qbs in this draft. Maye is the safest bet.
Close but flip 1 and 2

I don't know the QB prospects, but given the state of out OL, if we select a QB he can't be a pure pocket passer. We need someone who can dodge a rush and throw on the run.
I'll say it again. You can't judge any OL if you don't have a competent QB. No one else in the entire league sees 8 guys in the box the entire game. One reason Zappe has had some throwing success (17-19) in the first half is because teams are flooding the box and daring the Patriots to throw. The Chiefs adjusted in the 2nd half. But in the first the OL is looking at blocking 8 guys every down.

I watched them closely and thought they did an excellent job.

It is the case that the top college QBs are all mobile but if you can't step up into the pocket and learn to do it well, you're useless -- unless you're Patrick Mahomes. Look at Lamar Jackson tonight. It is a huge struggle for him.

Sure there are many ways to look at building a team. I just think this narrative that we HAVE TO draft a QB in the upcoming draft is a bit shortsighted.

In the last 20 years, there’s only been one QB drafted in the top 3 that has won a Super Bowl with the team that drafted him…Peyton Manning…that’s it!

As I've said before, they should have at least an upgrade at QB, OT, and WR signed in FA so they can just take whichever player is at the top of their board. If they truly have significant reservations about the top QBs, then, fine. But if they fix the OL and go, say, 9-8 with a caretaker, then they're stuck in the same boat as 2021.

If we pick two, this guy should be available:

“Maye's arm talent is the core of his game. He can throw a 100 mph fastball into a tight window over the middle or outside the numbers. Maye can also throttle down and put throws where only his receiver can go get it, as well as creating smooth yards-after-the-catch transitions for his receivers on underneath routes.”

Sounds good to me.

Right or wrong, I was firmly in the “draft a franchise QB” camp until today. After watching our OL against the Chiefs, it has become clear to me that we need to draft a LT with our top pick. Brown isn’t the guy and McDermott sucks. They’ve been getting our QBs killed all year and that won’t be any different for a rookie QB next season.

I believe we should bring in a veteran next season as a bridge QB and focus on improving the OL through the draft and FA.

There are 2 LTs in the upcoming draft who are rated as Top 5 picks so I think one of them should be our guy.

The only way we should use our #1 pick on a QB is if we believe 100% that one of the top 3 QBs is the future of the franchise .

What do you all think? Let’s discuss…
I say stick with Zappe and use the draft to fill holes. Use this season as his learning curve. He shows signs of being a solid QB but needs the supporting cast.

Yup. To people who think BB and TB played equal roles in the 6 SBs - I present two scenarios. One is Brady at his peak and yours truly as head coach. The other is Belichick at his peak and yours truly as QB. The first scenario is a SB contender. I’ll be hands off and let the coordinators do their thing. I’ll make in game decisions based on the analytics. I’ll study time management.

The second scenario is the worst team in NFL history.

My personal response to this is that there was synergy by having both of them together. I think both of them likely would've reached at least one SB if they had never been together (given Belichick did have a playoff win in CLE before Modell moved the team, and what Brady did in Tampa), but I doubt they'd have 9 between them as they did here.

As I've said before, both routes have risk. If you do take a QB in the first, there's a significant chance he won't pan out. If you don't take a QB, the odds of finding a franchise QB become much lower, especially if you're stuck around .500.

I think if they solidify the team in the draft then Zappe will have more support and we will find out if he improves over time. If we blow our wad on a crap shoot draft pick QB and neglect rebuilding then I think the odds are we lose.

I don't want our next rookie QB to play for at least half a season, preferably the entire season. Still need Tackles and Wide Receivers though, so if the QB is taken mid-late first or early second....after one of them I wouldn't complain. Our biggest mistake was not letting our next QB sit behind Brady. You can point fingers at RK or BB but it's water under the bridge.

I'll never understand the media/press conference critique. He doesn't take accountability by refusing to trash his players. I like that, even when he's dealing with dunderheads like JC Jackson.

You listen to too much Boston sports radio. No one anywhere else in the country trashes the team the way they do, and no fans anywhere else in the country care about this stuff.
How's answering a question trashing the team? He's this way even with guys connected heavily to the organization perry, reiss, even curran.. along with 25 million criticism comes with. Unless you’re part of the Belichick family why are you defending him? We all witnessed his great for a long time. Like I said the act with the media is old. Also show me a coach who treats the media the way he does? Over the years players were scared to death of being axed if they spoke to the media.

Real ... the once Great BB now have a dwindling following they are still few who would jump off the bridge with him. Gladly we are not among them I haven't listened to one of his smug pressers since Brady left. I just hope the Krafts have necessary people in place for the transition.

We need a top receiver, 3rd down back, improved OL.

No one wants a rookie QB throwing to juju/parker behind a shoddy OL and no 3rd down outlet back.

A true #1 receiver who can make plays at will would do wonders for this offense. Everyone would move back to where they belong.

Bills failures largely have been in the draft and poor talent evaluation. You build your team in the draft. Free agency is to supplement your team.

"Hi Bill, it's Tom Currant from the BlahBlahBlah SportsBlah.com. Hey, how do you like the city of Cleveland? You have ever been here before? Uh, what's your take on why Taylor Swift went for Kelce? Follow up and I know someone just asked this but, do you think Zappe has a chance with her?"

How about you pick the answer that protects the player - A or B:
"Hi Bill. Why didn't JC Jackson play today?"

A: BB: "He wasn't available. Let's leave it at that."

B: His agent, "He is dealing with mental health issues."

I do. When you're drafting as high as the Pats will it's the time to pick a QB. You pick a T or WR, that might get you back to mediocre but then you're out of the QB sweepstakes until you suck as bad as the Pats did this year which will likely take another 3-5 years.
