Moss in '10 without an extension: Something to prove or fragile psyche?

I think the better question is who wouldn't take Andre Johnson over Randy Moss.

Andre Johnson might be the only WR I would take over Moss (for only 1 season).

Hahaha, did I just commit heresy? I think I did...

Anyways, the point is that just because there's someone else in the entire league that you'd take over the guy that you have doesn't mean that that guy sucks and should be cut. Tom Brady is a hell of a quarterback; maybe the best ever, but there are younger guys coming off of better seasons who haven't suffered significant injuries in each of the last three years. Moss is maybe the best WR ever, but there are younger guys coming off of equally-as-good seasons who don't have as many question marks going into 2010. Doesn't change the fact that they're still both among the best at what they do, and we're lucky to have either one of them, let alone both.

Brady is one year older than Brees, and still better than him. In fact Brady is still better than every QB in the NFL (Peyton is the only one with a case).

However the point holds that just because we'd rather Andre Johnson doesn't mean Moss isn't great. Moss is still a top 3 receiver in the NFL.

it would be nuts to let moss go if 2010 is uncapped. He is still a threat and helps open things up underneath. Need to find another outside WR and hope Welker comes back strong.

If Brady comes back 100% from his injuries, then I'll agree with you. As it stands, however, Brees is 100%, and Brady, in the last three seasons, has suffered a torn acl, torn MCL, something messed up in his shoulder, a serious foot injury, an injury to a finger on his throwing hand, and apparently a few cracked ribs.

As a result, he hasn't played to the level that he's capable of since 2007. Do I think he'll get back there? There's a good chance, yeah. But in the mean time, Brees is already at a level that's very nearly as good as Brady's peak. So, if I were given the chance to pick between the two of them, I'd take Brees. Not a knock on Brady, who's my all-time favorite player (seriously, just look at my name). Generally, though, you take the guy who's healthy over the guy who isn't. It's the same exact reason, actually, why I'd take Johnson over Moss. I'd take 2007 Moss over Johnson, and 2007 Brady over Brees, but it's not 2007 anymore and both of these guys have had some injury issues since then.

Brees puts up numbers against a significantly easier schedule.

Brady was the number 1 QB in the league statisically this year when taking into account strength of schedule and all that jazz. (Brady was best in the league this year when taking that into account. And then you take into account all of his injuries and it's even more amazing) Also, Brees has significantly more weapons to work with.

Brady is easily a superior QB than Drew Brees and it's really not even close.

Manning is the only one with a strong argument, and even Rivers has a better argument than Brees does....

All this and still played better than Brees.

Brees is nowhere near 2007 Brady level, and wasn't even as good as 2009 Brady. You discredit Brady when you say such things. 2009 Brady performed better than 2009 Brees. 2010 Brady will undoubtedly perform better than 2010 Brees. You can talk about Brady's current injuries all you want, but not only is he better than Brees while injured he has an entire offseason to heal up his bumps and bruises. Don't confuse more weapons and an easier schedule with being a better QB.

BTW Brees against the AFC East:
58/99 (59%) 660 yards (220/game) 1 TD 3 INT

Brady:
145/230 (63%) 1705 yards (284/game) 7 TD 6 INT

Brady was the best QB in the NFL in 2009 even with all of that going against him. He is that damn good.

Thank you! Manning is the ONLY QB with a case. It's Brady and Manning, then a pretty decent dropoff to the Rivers' Brees' of the NFL.

Imo if Brees proves his is a clutch performer he has joined Brady and Manning as the elite right now.

Brees is good no doubt, and he always has been a good QB.

Has Andre Johnson ever caught more than 10 TDs in a season?

Rating WRs by TDs caught is an idiotic way to rate a WR.

Maybe, but they certaintly count for something. It's a decent sized piece to a rather limited puzzle.

So rating a QB by the amount of TD passes he throws or a HB by the amount of rushing TDs he has is idiotic?

Tell me, how do you win a football game? Any chance it could be by scoring points...

Getting into the redzone is great, but you need 7 points, not 3. I'll take the guy who cracks the goal line over the guy who gets to the goal line.
