Moss: "I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

He called the team cheap in the last year of his contract. Considering what the media has been saying about us since 2006, that's the biggest slam there possibly is against Kraft, BB, and the Pats. How in the world are you taking this lightly, SBB?

He never called the team cheap. "They don't pay" does not equate to "they are cheap".

I agree with all of this stuff

I don't care because everyone has been saying it already. It's not like he just came out and said "screw the Pats I'll never play another down for these cheap asses"

He just gave his thoughts when asked

Well, don't get me wrong on this, because I see the point that's being made, about it being a player. However, the Branch, Seymour and Samuel situations already have the issue out in the public eye, and Harrison commented publicly, some time back, about his having to take a pay cut , so I don't see the problem with Moss talking about this. Others disagree.

However, I think we are pretty much all in agreement that Peyton Manning threw a pick-6 to cost his team the Super Bowl.

Excuse me?

Don't you mean the GOAT threw a beautiful pass and his WR was too lazy to go and get it and let the CB have it?

Actually, not paying is the same as being cheap.

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

I said it before and I'll say it again. 2007 was exilerating, to a point. Extending him after 2007 was a mistake. They know it. Don't like it, have tried to mitigate it, even with contrived captaincy, but it is what it is.

Mo, I'm not sure what happens to you when Moss discussions come up but contrived captaincy? Really?

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

No it is not at all. Cheap has no reason behind not paying other than keeping your money. Randy never really said why he thinks they "don't pay" aside from his comments about believing in their system that has won SBs. If not paying instantly equates to cheap, then every human being in the world is cheap because we all refuse to pay for many things that we believe do not give us the proper value for our money.

Only according to Karen Guregian in the Herald he did...

Moss, who received $27 million in the three-year extension, explained what he meant by the Pats not paying. He actually used the word “cheap” but claimed it wasn’t meant in a harsh fashion.

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

Hey guys, remember this interview?

Brady wants to be a money quarterback - on the field - The Boston Globe

Brady said: " I think we’re all probably underpaid....I’ve thought about it. I just want to go out and have a great year... You don’t know whether you’ll be out here next week or the following week..."

WHAT A MALCONTENT, THOSE WORDS CAME DIRECTLY OUT OF HIS MOUTH. AND FROM THE HIGHEST-PAID PLAYER ON THE TEAM, NO LESS, WHAT AN UNGRATEFUL PRIMA DONNA LOSER.

Is that an accurate representation of the real context of what Brady said? Of course not- that's me selectively chopping out all but the juiciest bits, so that it sounds like a much bigger deal than what he was really saying. The media does this all the time, and this whole Moss debacle is no exception.

Fact: Brady is a more eloquent speaker than Moss, so he didn't trip up quite as badly as Moss did.

Fact: If Moss had said what Brady said there to the media, he would have been absolutely skewered for it anyways. But because it was Brady, and not Moss, they focused on the positive instead of the negative (see the title for a perfect example of this). Quit letting the sports 'media' work you up into a frenzy.

All that Moss did was acknowledge the reality of the situation, and unfortunately he used a poor choice of words to do it. It's annoying, and I'm disappointed in him for it, but life will go on and it's really not a huge deal. Meanwhile, geniuses like MoLewisRocks are going to use it to get up on their high horses for another 75 paragraphs, talking endlessly about how Moss isn't a 'real' patriot, with such clear insight into the Pats' locker room chemistry that they must be players themselves (or talking out of their asses, as usual).

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

Pretty much

I was raised a die hard Vikings fan and when they let Randy Moss get away I was done. I knew then he had the ability to be the best WR to ever step onto a football field and they let him go. I couldn't and still can't rationalize that

I understand he's aged but he is still one of the best in the league. With 0 other options at WR he should be a top priority if this team wants to win at all.

So what you actually are is a bandwaggon fan of whichever team Randy Moss' is on...and that makes it a no brainer you would become a critic of any team that doesn't make the most of Randy Moss' presence as if that, and not winning football games, is their goal because it's your's and Randy's... We won it all long before Randy showed up on our roster and we will continue to win when he's on someone else's...and then I assume they will have your sparkling "fan" presence as a bonus.

Yes, that's exactly what he was saying

Guess what- when I was really young, Tony Pena autographed a baseball bat for me. I was so pumped that, when the Sox traded him to the Indians, my allegiance temporarily followed. Man, in your book I must just be the worst fan in the world. Not everyone ends up following the team that they were raised to follow. Oftentimes, especially when their parents have moved, for example, they'll quit following their parents' old hometown team, and will follow their own. Like, if I end up having and raising kids out here in California, for example, there's an awfully good chance that they'll end up Lakers/Dodgers/Chargers fans, as much as that would make me want to disown them.

I may be wrong but unless you can prove it I don't recall Harrison ever commenting publicly on having to take a paycut. He did mention when Richard was staging his hold out that he himself was merely the 20th highest paid safety in the league...I think perhaps to put Richard's problems in perspective. When he returned from his ACL/PCL he took a legit paycut, but we only found out about it after the fact when it appeared on the NFLPA site. And the tradeoff was he finished out the final two seasons of a 6 year contract no one predicted he would when he signed it without any further adjustments.

Brady was laughing when he said that, which is the context you acknowledge. He was more serious recently when he said they are all overpaid comparatively speaking. He isn't worried about his contract because he has higher aspirations than most of his teamates and peers. And if he's going to achieve those he needs to spend less time begging his teamates to man up and push through whatever issues are bothering them.

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

He's saying alot more than that.

I don't care about him saying that 2010 may be his last year with the Pats. It really could be. But why bring up all of the "they don't pay" bullfarts?[/QUOTE]

Take a chill pill and start looking at things objectively. Examples cited below for where were "key" players

1. Ty Law
2. Asante Samuel
3. Daniel Graham
4. Adam Vinatieri
5. David Givens
6. Richard Seymour (traded)
7. Brady (below market value)
8. Branch (blew it up in their own face by allowing him to speak to others)
9. Gaffney
10. Andruzzi
11. McGinest (could have worked out some deal to have him retire as a Pat)
12. Randall Gay
13. Lawyer Milloy (Salary Cap Cut....so basically money related)

On the other hand they've shelled out $$ to land which topline FA's ? Quickly, I count 3.....Colvin, Adalius, Rodney(SD cut him, so not really UFA), and borderline one with Stallowrth.

There.

On the other hand, they have paid out $ for Moss, Adalius,

I heard Harrison talk about it. I don't remember if he said in on radio or television, and I'm not going hunting for it. You are free to ignore it as you wish. It doesn't change my point. Rodney was just one more example.

I recall him talking about it pretty early-on when he had just started at the NBC sunday night show, I think? I dunno, clearly my memory of it isn't a slam dunk, could be wrong.

I 100% agree. I don't think that he was actually being a malcontent, obviously. Just pointing out that you can't very well gauge what a player was really saying by how the media chooses to interpret it, even when the words come directly out of their mouths. Everything gets spun nowadays.

Someone mentioned earlier in this thread about Julio Jones with the raiders pick, the best receiver in the draft and he's 6'4", a Moss-esque receiver.

I wonder if BB did the Seymour trade for Jones to replace Moss.

If he did then it was as a former player. A lot different than as a team captain...

mountains and molehills, they all look the same sometimes

Given that I didn't claim Harrison made the statement as a team captain, and that you didn't use that in your response:

I may be wrong but unless you can prove it I don't recall Harrison ever commenting publicly on having to take a paycut.

I don't really see your point in bringing it up here, now. :confused2:
