More PROOF that the NFL is against the Patriots

ESPN's AFC East blog this morning is all about Matt Cassel -- and nothing about Brett Favre despite the 47-3 win yesterday! Bias against the Jets!

You see how ridiculous this stuff sounds?

I would be highly surprised if the guy updating the standings for espn.com is even a salaried employee. Almost guaranteed, it's a 19 year-old intern working in a windowless office somewhere underneath the cafeteria. And you think he's following a secret directive by the ESPN management to tweak Patriots fans?

Yes.....:spygate:

I just thought of something. Last year the media, ESPN especially, tried to pull this same stunt with the Colts. What Pat fan don't remember good vs. Evil? If the upcoming game has the same result that one did then there is no need to get upset. Evil will prevail once more.

The new marketing campaign for this weeks game where they tought Brett Favre as the "HERO" and that he's going up against his "RIVALS".

Give me a friggin break. Nothing like the league throwing the Pats under the bus and equating them with being evil here.

If I am Kraft, I am on the phone with Goodell having it pulled because it bad publicity for the team or telling him that there will be an injunction awaiting the league by Monday afternoon.

Maybe I'm numb to it all, but I see it as marketing. Pats fans are upset, Jets fans are stoked and other fans are looking for a good game. The commercial certainly stirred some emotions.

I'm seeing the Pats taking care of business, sending the hero home with his tail between his legs, and moving forward to the Miami game with an extra three days rest. Thursday's is a pivotal game where a Pats victory can setup the rest of the season for a good run.

We know that you cry all the time. Its the only way you seem to be able to get attention.

Never said that they were all out to get the Patriots. But only a total moron would deny that the Patriots have been on the sh!t end of the stick the last two years when it came to the Mannings. From the BS call against Hobbs, to the non-call on Hayden for raping Caldwell in the endzone, to Mike Carey NOT blowing the whistle in the SB and then admitting that he should have. Never mind that fiasco from last year with the Jets that was much ado about nothing.

Please do us all a favor, just admit that you are really a Jets Fan and then leave.

WAHH, WAHH, WAHH, everyone is out to get us....laughable.

Don't worry about this. Let NFLN advertise the game however they want. In the end we'll knock Lord Favrequad to the ground a bunch of times and we'll win this.

I was half joking, but I guess it speaks more to ESPN's professionalism than anything. They could at least learn the tie-breaking rules.

Patsli.... Jetslif... JetsLIAR - please STFU and leave already. No one asked for your imbecilic posts.

You are unreal. The NFL is a COMPANY. The Pats are one of the top money making teams in the NFL. Are you saying the NFL hates their biggest cash cow? Thats like saying Toyota hates Lexus, oh brother.

=======================================================

Seems I remember the top 5 cash cows as

1 Redskins/ Cowboys

3 Pats

4. Gints

5. JETS

NFL.com = Pats 1st
ESPN = Jets 1st
CBS = Jets 1st
Sporting news = Pats 1st
MSNBC = Pats 1st
SI = Pats 1st
FOXsports = Pats 1st

:confused2:

There's an easy reason for this... when the standings change websites' software automatically update them. But not all the tiebreakers are programmed in, why bother dealing with the in-season details to that level? In-season tiebreakers are often somewhat misleading anyway. At some point a human checks it and fixes it.

In fact... you report that NFL.com shows the Pats first. When I checked NFL.com last night about 7PM, they showed the Jets first. Later in the evening it was fixed.

In fairness to the NFL, the Jets were in first till the Pats beat the Bills.

I can't agree with you. I've thought Favre to be over-rated for at least the past half-dozen years.

But that's missing the point. TV marketing of the NFL is not geared towards hard-core fans, they will watch no matter what. Marketing is done to attract the more casual fan or the fan who doesn't usually watch games not featuring their hometown team. Such fans are more likely to pay attention to hype and are (in my opinion) more likely to think highly of Favre.

I am not debating that Favre has been overrated, that's not the point. The point is the average viewer doesn't think so. That's all that matters.

Jets played at 1pm...so did the Pats...OK, so I guess you're saying the Jets were in 1st for 5 minutes?

As of 7PM all three AFC East games were done and all their records had been updated, but not all the 4PM games had completed. So NFL.com showed Jets and Pats both at 6-3 but with the Jets in first. I assume it was upon completion of the 4PM games that a human looked at the standings and made necessary corrections.

Jets were in 1st from the time they beat the Bills till the time the Pats beat the Bills, about a week.
Not much to hang my hat on, but I will take it.

How I figured it was because all the AFCE teams had not played each other that Head to Head did not come into play, and the Jets were 2-1 in the div. while the Pats were, 1-1, Now all AFCE teams have played and the Pats are in 1st via head to head.

1st tiebreaker is head to head with identical records...the Pats have held THAT on the Rats all season so far...no?

4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

5. Strength of victory.

6. Strength of schedule.

7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.

8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.

9. Best net points in common games.
