Nicely written article Ian, however I am not sure I agree with the premise of it. Blount was a very good pickup for us last season, but what made him such a good pickup was the value. He was acquired for a seventh round pick, and a player that was not going to play football in 2013; in addition, he restructured his contract to $680,000. His 700 yards and 7 touchdowns looked terrific with that type of investment, but if you increase the investment to say $2,000,000 APY and you invest long-term, does that production entice you?

I would have to know what the offer is by the Steelers (if/when he receives one) before I could say if it was a good or bad idea to put up a fight.
