It was pretty obvious he was hurt last year. The early reports after his injury had him out for a while, but he only missed one game. He never truly recovered. Not going to give him credit for production he didn't have, but it would have been nice to see a healthy Sanu for a true evaluation.

He was arguably the worst receiver in the NFL based on production - 8 yards per reception on a 55.3% catch rate. It makes sense that he was injured.

Whether it was BB or McDaniels the insistence on playing a waste of snaps over Meyers or Dorsett wasn’t a smart move. They were 1-2 receptions away from beating the Titans. Sanu had 1 reception on 5 targets for 11 yards.

Doesn’t matter now anyway but they probably should’ve just IRed him. The pats 3 WR set in December was really an injured Edelman, a waste of snaps in Sanu & a struggling rookie. The TE was a 38 year old injured vet. Amazing they should’ve had a bye.

If you can't make hard cuts, your routes get rounded, and you're thinking more about your ankle potentially exploding than you are the right reads. It's not an excuse, you're out there you've gotta do you job, but some of you people need to give these guys a break when they're playing hurt.

This is literally entirely incorrect, as it definitely explains everything you just listed.

You can't cut and shift direction quickly, and you're way more hesitant to make a block.

This is one of those rare instances where you're glad to hear that someone's been hurt for a while. It offers hope that, if Sanu is brought back, we could see a much better year from him.

So, while I hope the surgery is successful for the sake of the player's general health, I also hope that it leads to the player being a much improved part of the team.

He had arguably one of the worst seasons in NFL history for a receiver with at least 20 receptions.

Can we find someone who’s available for that same cap hit amount that justifies the means of cutting Sanu?

If so, cut him. If not, keep him around.
