Vrabel was rumored to be Robert Kraft's favorite for the role when Bill Belichick was expected to be let go earlier this year, but ultimately went with Mayo instead.

Vrabel although an obvious upgrade over Mayo would just be another guy with Patriots ties hired without going thru a detailed coach and GM search and learning how other organizations are operating and hearing people's ideas for the future.

The Patriots are a franchise who have never modernized and never looked outside their own building for coaches for so long, an interview process without a pre-determined outcome of who's being hired is so badly needed.

i can't see the bears making this kind of decision so early... doesn't make much any sense for them to go after a defensive coach again... which is what Matt Eberflus was before getting the job in Chicago...

I can see them targeting an offensive coordinator for the job this time around... Ben Johnson comes to mind first, trying to maximize the Caleb Williams draft pick... then there's Brady in Buffalo, Kellen Moore in Philly or even Kliff Kingsbury in DC... though, he might need a bit more success before getting back to HC, considering his underwhelming track record in Arizona...

There's nothing there, not even smoke for the mirrors. Orlovsky says he 'thinks' Vrabel knows where he's going, McAfee and his butt boys speculate Ohio and Orlovsky just puts on his idiot grin. Nothing said regarding McDaniels at all...

Nothing anywhere in this article says anything about Vrabel going to the Bears.

It says that the author thinks he will go to Ohio State University, and is basing that off of Dan Orlovsky smiling while talking to Pat McAfee a week ago.

McDaniels is not mentioned anywhere.
