You took Ian's post out of context. Read the attached article next time and then post. He clearly provided the correct context within the article.

Wow, the **** people think is worth spending time/money on without so much of a blink of an eye:

  • Watching network television/ professional sports and their stupid commercials
  • Attending political rallies for demagogues with zero interest in really making a change
  • Watching mailed-in Hollywood movies with horrendous screenwriting and gratuitous violence
  • Wasting money in casinos where every transaction is automatically a negative financial proposition
  • Incredibly overpriced, depreciating material items such as jewelry and expensive artifacts
  • Memberships to religious organizations that are outright scams and make absurd promises
  • Investing in outright fraudulent scams that are clearly too good to be true
And then the outrage that a couple of people are spending money on going to see Anthony Robbins, a success coach who does actually provide value to many people in ways that can't be traditionally measured.

Exactly. Hey by the way there are WWE smackdown tickets available for May 16th up in Manchester. Are those people stupid?

In order to feel confident and ready to achieve their goals, people go to life coaches, psychologists, physicians, change their diet, exercise, read inspirational books, watch inspirational movies, join organizations, and do about 100 other things that will help to "pump them up" with a mixture of results. The only reason people hate Anthony Robbins is that he's famous and mainstream, and they focus on the most negative results and far fetched complaints. I have seen plenty of scams, and AR is not one of them, provided that expectations are realistic about (a) what his role is in your success and (b) what your role is in your success. I am not in the market for a full-cycle self-help regimen, but I would love to attend an event like this once every 3-6 months.

if Brady and Edelman actually think Robbins is doing good work, then there's nothing to see here. I mean, I think he's a snake-oil salesman, but hey, to each his own.

At least it's not Osteen and those idiot Prosperity Gospel charlatans...if I ever saw people who should be visited by the IRS on a regular basis...

Is he a snake oil salesman, or does he tend to attract a lot of people who are looking to buy snake oil?

I think Robbins is a charlatan of sorts, but I have only seen little blurbs of his shtick.
And $6000 to Brady and Edds is like 6 bucks to me so, fine with me. I won't judge him. I'd do lots of stupid things with 6 dollars.

But this below ....... Isn't beating Toucher and Rich like besting Beavis and Butthead?
Minihane, who joined the show a few years ago and has injected some life back into WEEI’s morning show, has played an important part in the station taking back the lead in the ratings over 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Toucher and Rich.

I have researched him, and watched him on Youtube. He is a Con Man who takes advantage of people's weaknesses, similar to a televangelist faith healer.

It's not for me but I don't fault anyone who spends a hundred bucks to listen to a motivational speaker. If they get something out of it then great. If not then they won't go again. I once spent a 500 bucks (if you include the hotel room) for two tickets to the Fleet of Flame Show in Las Vegas. My wife wanted to go so we went. Sat for two hours listening to di di di di di di da di di da di da da stomp stomp di di di di da di di di da di di stomp stomp......

When people go to these events they can create networks, feed off of each other etc... There isn't really anything wrong with it.

Some people can inspire. For example listen to this guy. Tell me this isn't a powerful speech.

"Tony Robbins uses to get people to do what he wants: neuro-linguistic programming, also called NLP, and Ericksonian hypnosis, a way to induce a trance without the subject knowing they are hypnotized and planting a suggestion"
EDIT: He is a bad dude.

Feet of Flames, yup saw it. Saw Riverdance too. Nothing like a bunch of blonde Irish gals tap dancing with stationary arms and shoulders. The wife and grown daughter love it. I'll still take that over a bad musical.....

Brady and Edelman are very naive. I can't believe they are in on the kind of thing that Tony Robbins is all about. They might as well be following some faith healer like "Benni Hinn" or something.
There is nothing wrong with Benihana.

So, Tony Robbins is a "bad dude". Yet TEDtalks continues to have him..

Think about that for awhile.
