Mariota is very much in the same position as Alex Smith was after 5 seasons. He's a guy with the talent to at least be OK, he's got a good attitude and works hard, but he's been through so many offensive schemes and played on so many terminally flawed rosters in a short period of time that he's kind of just toast.

Mariota hasn't played with a single good wide receiver. It literally never happened in 5 years. And it's not all on him because none of them did anything when they left the Titans either, they were all just career scrubs. His best passing weapon ever was a B grade receiving tight end who regularly misses 1/3 of his starts every year and hit 1,000 yards exactly once. This year they're averaging giving up 5 sacks per game, which again you can't put on Mariota entirely because he has had normal sack rates in 2015-2017, the pass protection has just been garbage.

I’d shed a tear if he wasn’t a stinking tack player.

Jacksonville wants him under center as long as possible

One would think MV would get to pick "his guy" if it doesn't work out this year.

Tennessee is an interesting case. I like MM but haven't been impressed w some his decisions. I watch him on film & he's just not seeing or making the right decisions imho.

That said he's been through a whirlwind there year after year. Its always something.

I also don't buy the "no weapons" excuse. Davis, Henry, Walker, Brown, Hump.. They got talent. They just need to get their sh/t together on that side of the ball.

Again tho if they do want a new QB after the season that's fine. Understandable but I think you have to give Mike another year.
